Welcome back to the Atari world!!!
SIO2PC/PROSYSTEM Dual Interface is the hardware interface, APE is the software that utilizes the hardware. The SIO2PC / PROSYSTEM Dual Interface is the connection between an Atari computer and a PC. The interface can also be used to connect an Atari drive (1050/XF551) to a PC for backing up or writing disks to/from ATR image files.
APE/Prosystem is the software that emulates most connected SIO hardware on the Atari. You can use your PC as virtual disk drives, modem, printer interface and so on. The Prosystem part allows the backup and restoring of most all Atari floppy disks to and from an Atari drive.
If you use the SIO2PC, 1050/XF551, Atari computer and PC together, it will also allow copying of disks and file between the virtual drives and a real one with normal Atari DOS commands.
They are a definite must!!! Contact Atarimax. They have other very cool items for the Atari, ie. IDE interfaces, flash rom cartridges and so on.
