Personally I don't like the Super Mario style of platformers, so Bubsy and Zool2 just aren't my kind of games, but I watched a couple of the levels on video. Pretty impressive.

I really appreciate that. :) I was thinking of doing a cute video that has Bubsy and Zool in their Candy stages flashing back and forth... not so sure I could get as much into Zool2, so kinda see what you mean.

Thanks for watching the videos. Hopefully now you can see parts of the game that look fun and can go directly to that when you feel like tinkering with Bubsy on the Jag.

This does have me wondering if they have the warp level feature in Zool2 and other platformers and what other stages might be burried deep in the game that I have yet to try.

I know for Bubsy the favorite level seems to be Ali Baba level (7-9) that are buried deep in the game, but you can warp to.

Just a fun mention, I managed to play from levels 1-12 without restarts, level codes, or whatever. Would have gotten further if it were not for that damned Lobster at level 12. But still a good play through. I hope in time to take Bubsy through all 15 levels on a single game.

Someday I'll be that good. Oh yes, I'll be that good. (My spoof on Wayne's World). :)

Finally beat the $@&% Lobster. That was the last thing I needed to do to really beat this game.

Ok, that was just nuts!

Been practicing my a$$ off at beating the lobster, so tonight I was able to play a game that took Bubsy through a continuous game to level 15. Managed in the end to beat Hansel, didn't quite get Gretel. Just one more goal for me and the Bubster... beating this game with one game (and maybe some honest continues that he picks up along the way) ;)

Final score : 647,834

(Note to self, grab the continues on levels 3,6, and 7. There might be more, but those are the only ones I know of. With this at least I would get another 27 lives).

More on this maybe in another month, unless we have others that want to tell how things are going for their games of Bubsy. :D

Chapter 12 - 792323 Large Lobster - Quite Hard

Let's see, Bubsy's sayings are...

"Oh sure, let's all torch the Bubster" (Alice in Wonderland)
"Pilot's License? What for?" (Jack and the Beanstalk)
"Keep it up! Just keep it up!" (Ali Baba)
"Who do I look like? Flipper?" (20,000 Leagues)
"Nothing can stop me now!" (Hansel & Gretel)

Thanks for the codes dude, that game seriously kicked my arse, I don't think I got past level 6 or so, now I can try some later ones.

Oh, and he also says "more like a bridge to short" in a bridge to fur....second or third level I think :\

That saying was on the Sega/SNES game of Bubsy but not the Jag. Though the "Pilot's License, what for?" was used on the carneval levels of the Sega/SNES Bubsy and the Jack and the Beanstalk levels on the Jaguar.

Yeh play it in that order and you'll find it a very enjoyable 12 level game. The water levels I suggest when you are up for a real challenge.

Woops, sorry about that. I got the two mixed up there. To bad the SNES game wasn't ported. I'd have loved to get it.

Yeh I think that would have been nice. Sometimes I wonder if the space in the Jaguar cart prevented that from happening. As it was they were thinking of porting the first Bubsy game to the Jag.. which would have been ok.. in the end the fourth or fifth version of the same game on multiple platforms. In the end a unique game was made that many would like to try, and many wanted to see, but no one was sure if getting a Jag was worth it. Of course I got a few responses back after the movies were made where people have expressed new interest in trying it for themself. :)

No I bought it a few months back. That is my gallery of some of the videogame art I own.

Here is the main page. There are 6 or 7 Jaguar paintings here.

Bummer that you were not the artist but I am really glad that art piece is in a good home (and not lost to us). :)

So where was that sold? What was the story on it? Trivia is always fun to know.

Its a long story but I do know who the artist is. Once I wrap up the loose ends I can tell you more about it. I'm still buying art.

Well, tonight I beat Bubsy all the way through without level codes and completed a personal goal!!

I probably burned through about 48 lives (9 to start with, 21 found in the game, and two continues of 9 lives each), but I did it!!!

592,203 was the final score (really not my high score, but what I got this round)... I was just dorking around tonight, started playing, and before I knew it I was on level 10 and figured tonight might just be the night to beat my latest goal in Bubsy of getting through the game without completely dying. I was on my last life. :D

Next goal, to master this further, and do a speed run through all 15 levels.

I can get through levels 1-9 in about 30 minutes, it's the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Hansel and Gretel levels that take up the most time for me.

But yeh so much fun! :D Later all!

Thank you! I'm having fun making some fun Bubsy/Jaguar pictures just because...

On the AvB picture I want to add more detail, like turning the pulse rifle into a Nerf gun (like Bubsy had in Bubsy 2) and turn the other weapons on the Heads up display to things like pies, Portable holes, and a side view of the Nerf gun. :D

Bubsy is pretty bad, unless you enjoy dying about every 5 seconds. Move left, die. Move right, die. Jump, die. You get the idea....

Nice graphics, really poor gameplay....

I concur. This game is horrible. Any version, any console, it's just bad.

And the cartoon sucked too!

I actually really like Bubsy (I remember playing it back on the SNES when it first came out) but when I picked it up for the Jaguar, the hit detection and controls seemed really sensitive/dodgy. I don't know if the port is exactly the way the SNES/Gen versions were or if I'm just getting old and worse at platformers but man...I die so many times even in the first level.

That said, I REALLY want to like the game and I hope one day to beat it completely on the Jag...but no matter how bad you think 2D Bubsy is, Bubsy 3D is far, far worse! :)

Oh man Bubsy 3D WAS bad. I have considered that these are cannon for Bubsy

Bubsy (1) in Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind [US:January 1, 1993]
Bubsy 2 [US:April 3, 1994]
Bubsy (3) in Fractured Furry Tails [Dec 1, 1994]

((Bubsy 3D: Furbitten Planet [26 November 1996 (USA)] ))

I used to call Bubsy FFT 1.5, but got to thinking that Bubsy 1 and 2 were both out before FFT, so from now on, Jag Bubsy is the last Bubsy game in my book, and Bubsy 3D is just some weird dream Bubsy had. :D

"The 3rd dimension, shea riiiightt... that place doesn't exist."
- Bubsy Bobcat, a character from 2 dimensional gaming.

Anyway the first Bubsy is a lot of fun. Bubsy 2 has more gadgets, it was interesting at least, and Bubsy FFT is like the first Bubsy in feel, but a bit zippier.

Oh you used my video on youtube of Bubsy 3D. :D You know I get comments on that video DAILY. Actually pisses me off because I have 151 OTHER videos that I think are much more interesting but everyone wants to comment on just how bad Bubsy 3D is. While Bubsy 3D has it's fun moments, I have to agree with them. But really... 169 comments... geez!

Ok the way to enjoy Bubsy FFT... believe it or not levels 7-9 are the easiest of the game. Start with those.

Yet the original artwork to Ruiner Pinball with some minor changes is pictured !
