almost all first party coleco protos are on regular coleco boards- i have seen like... maybe one or two exceptions (a cabbage patch (to date unreleased) proto was on a different similar style board.

the atarisoft boards are odd shaped... i have a lord of the dungeon proto that is way odd looking.. i have power grabber, which is on a tan (not green) board...

every manufacturer has a different design. are there any in particular you are interested in?

I have pictures! Found a ton of Coleco protos at the flea market:

The thing on the right is a Coleco proto. No idea what the thing on the left is for.

It has 30 contacts (15 per side), so it's likely a ColecoVision/ADAM proto of some sort as well, possibly from a different manufacturer. Every Coleco proto I've seen looks like the one on the right.

Slim chance it could be an Atari 8-bit proto of some sort, but I've never seen one like that.

Someone has suggested that the thing on the left is a prototype for the Emerson Arcadia.

It's not Emerson. With four 2764's that's 32K, which is way more than the Arcadia machine can address. And it looks like the wrong physical size too.

Update: It's gotta be a Coleco or Adam board. It has the same number of pins, same size, and the same pin has NC on it.

Looks like it says ACT2010 which would be 2010 The Action Game. Gotta be Colecovision.

The sixth pin from the right is the first thing I noticed yesterday too, I'd be willing to bet money on the fact it's a Coleco board. I am not willing to claim any of them are protos though. :P

Good catch...I looked at that one quickly and didn't even notice. :dunce:
Definitely ColecoVision.

Not willing to claim they're protos? Are you suggesting that Coleco used 4-socket EPROM boards in their production carts and (presumably) folded them in half? :P

Employee pirate board, I've got one like that, except mine is for the 2600.

Yeah, you could be right, but in a case like this, what's the difference really if they came from a Coleco employee? Very fine line between what's a proto and what's not.

Not much, unless they are all final versions.
