I see playing M.U.L.E. against 3 computer players, competing for most land or money or "total", also counting pieces in Othello, but Archon? Does it have a scoring system on the NES?

I dunno. I was checking games as they were nominated to make sure they had some kind of scoring system and would work but that was way too much work.

In any case, thanks for the heads-up; I'll check it out.

They would all work great.. with the exception of Archon I guess.
You could scratch Archon. I was thinking along the lines of the person who wins with the most teamates left. Or with the most quality players left, win.

M.U.L.E. - 1 vs 3 CPU. Highest score. Tournament level.
Othello - pieces or score
Marble Madness - Highest score after you've completed the game wins.
Ninja Kid - highest score you can get.

Added.

Also, I think I'm going to call the "season" over after half a year; 26 weeks. At that point the scores will be reset and we'll start again.

I may tweak the game-selection process (though probably not - I'm happy with that) and I think I will also start having games run for two weeks rather than one. The time period seems too short pretty frequently. Any input?

How about running 2 games at once for 2 weeks each? They could have staggered start weeks, or not, whatever people like. That way we still get the same turnover of new games to play, but more opportunity to set aside time for them.

Added a ton of shooters to the list, including Seicross, Abadox, Cobra Command, Twin Eagle, Section-Z, Fantasy Zone, etc. etc.

Also resorted the list so that all the new additions aren't all clumped at the bottom.

Hey, I don't have the patience to read the whole thread, and I was wondering if the Wii VC can be used in the HSC. I don't have my NES on me, or a desire to use that, but if I can use the VC, I'd join the HSC.

It would seem that they would be emulated the same as the real versions.

I say go ahead.....it's great having more people in the HSC. But, in the end, the call's up to vdub.

P.S.
Without really looking through the thread again (I'm real tired)....I nominate these games to be played:
3D Worldrunner
Elevator Action (i know it was played last season but it is so damn good)
City Connection
Low G-Man
MegaMan 3......i think it has a scoring mechanism :?:
Ninja Gaiden 1,2,3
Mechanized Attack
Isolated Warrior
Shatterhand
8 Eyes

What kind of emulation is Wii VC? Is it accurate? Is it emulation using real ROMs, or something different?

From what I've played....it's perfect emulation. But I've only played Super Metroid, Sim City, Sonic, Mario 64, and Mario Kart on it. Haven't tried any NES games on it but I would think it would be perfect. The two SNES games I played are.

I think for now we'll case-by-case allow Wii VC emulation. I just want to be careful that it is exact. For example, if we were to play Ninja Gaiden (or NG 2/3) it would have to be the NES version of those games, NOT the SNES remakes.

Added these:
Ninja Gaiden III
Low G Man
Mechanized Attack
Isolated Warrior
Shatterhand
8 Eyes

Didn't add Mega Man 3 since I played it very briefly and did not see any kind of score.

what a wonderful excuse for me to purchase even more NES games. I've been lurking around this area for long enough to notice that it's totally dead for some reason (even though the games are plentiful and everybody in the world has the system)

My request is Super C

also, if this area is totally dead, is anybody opposed to the occasional tossing of a topic (game) into the ring and seeing if there are any bites? It's not the best way to do business (and it's far from how the rest of the HSC's go) but it's better than being dead.

I don't think I seen Gradius or Lifeforce on the list. I might have overlooked them...those would be perfect.

What about Rad Racer 1 and 2. There's also High Speed and Rollerball. There's literally hundreds of great games to list...

Forgot one...Stinger (by Konami)
