It has, started two days ago, I've tried to remove the modem unit, the VMU unit and the vibration unit just in case to check but it goes the same.

I start playing and suddenly it reboot and goes to the main white Dreamcast screen.

Needless to say it's really frustrating

Anyone enconters the same problem

TIA for responding

take it apart and give it a good clean - it could be a couple of things.
If the DC thinks the lid is open (that little button is up) it'll reboot. Could be that (or any other internal mechanism) gunked up with dirt. How is your fan sounding?
If the DC encounters a hardware problem (disc not spinning correctly etc.) it reboots as a bit of a knee-jerk reaction.

also, are your disks clean? If you put a bad or scratched disk in, it will reboot.. same goes with burned cds that you didnt burn properlly.

During game development a few years ago I remember going thru MANY DC units - they constantly flipped out (we did have them turned on 24/7, but they seemed a lot less reliable than other hardware).

You could try making sure the vents are clean on the cooling system, the DC runs hot, and that was the problem I encountered.

The fact that DC units are prone to overheating worsens with age too (I've got a couple of PAL units that are pretty unreliable)...

Well, this is an old topic but whattaheck, perhaps someone is still reading it :)

The problem with the DC rebooting is fairly well known, the reason's supposed to be that (and this is just as far as I can remember) the pins going from/to the powersupply bend when they are heated and when they make contact with eachother the machine reboots. This is, as far as I can remember, quite easy to solve by bending the pins back. NOW DO NOT TAKE MY WORD FOR THIS !!!!! Check out the forums over att dcemulation.com they will be able to help you out much better than I can.

Cheers!

I had a rebooting problem with mine. I also had trouble with the system recognizing a disc every now and then. I opened it up and did the cleaning trick, but that didn't solve the problem. What I discovered is that the lid wasn't registering as completely closed sometimes, so what I did was use a small piece of folded paper to wedge the lid nice and snug closed - no reboots EVER since! :D

I had the same problem with my Asian DC. The pins on the connector for the power PCB needed adjustment, and ever since I did this, it has been fine. I even went so far as to jam some broken toothpicks into the slots to keep the pins from bending back again.

There is a tutorial on this page: DC Reset Problem

This is why I'm taking it easy on my current DC, it works perfect and I wanna keep it that way (but it is tempting). I'm thinking of buying that black EA edition just for playing, and if it dies, it dies.
