Any chance of getting a public release of the binary (even in an unfinished form) anytime soon?

Don't do it Jose, Hozer will crank them out before you can publish it.
There are ways around that.

I posted one of my games in an obscure bankswitching format, and I'm certain that Hozer is not knowledgeable enough to make suitable hardware or hack the binary to a conventional bankswitch type.

Maybe. But there are a lot of people who can. So eventually someone will change it to a standard type.

You could add some kind of checksum to prevent this, but that can be broken too.

Just about anything you do could be broken. There are people out there who are technically capable but I'm pretty sure Hozer is not, and I would be amazed if someone both converted the bankswitching and distributed the converted binary anytime soon (or was paid by Hozer to do it, as I doubt there are many who are both capable and willing to do something that dishonest.)

EDIT: One thing Hozer IS capable of doing is buying a cart and dumping it, as are many others, with commonly available hardware. I think that would be vastly more likely than someone converting a binary to a common bankswitching type or him paying someone to do it.

Nah, he's busy working on his new homebrew Obrut. I think it has something to do with vector satellites around the earth or something.

Interesting. Although he'd get better quality running the 2600 straight into a VCR instead of shooting it with a camcorder.

This looks pretty good though. Certainly seems feasible for the 2600.

The big question though - will it get dumped?
I hope so. Stuff like this should be saved in case something happens to the ROM. With that said, it would be a lot of fun to play also. Who knows, maybe someone could finish it if it isn't already (looked pretty playable from the demo though).

The ROM is safe. Albert keeps it under his pillow at night, takes it for long walks during the day, feeds it only organic fruits and vegetables, and doesn't let it talk to strangers. Every other Tuesday he takes it mountain biking (but always with a helmet) and every three months it gets a checkup and any shots it needs. It's not allowed to stay up late and watch television, but once in awhile they'll have a movie night when it will get to stay up past 11 PM. It does very well in school, but has had a little problem with physics, however it seems to be improving lately. It's favorite color is blue, although it won't tell you why other than, "I just like blue". It plays well with others, except for the McDonald's prototype, but that seems to be more of an emotional issue with McDonald's than anything that Turbo is doing.

This part concerns me, as I have heard Albert showers with his mountain bike. Please be sure you don't shower with the ROM.

SD cards and CD-ROM discs are relatively waterproof. :)

As long as it isn't hanging around with the "Custer's Revenge" and "Beat 'em and Eat 'em" carts, everything is ok. Wouldn't want to have it get corrupted. Turbo corruption = having to stop every 100 miles and picking up a crackwhore. Never fun for anyone.

Speak for yourself. The crackwhore at mile marker 400 is a real prize! :lust: :D

How soon can we hope for a rom release? Is it just when the carts are sold out or is there a time frame?

I'm thinking I'll release the original prototype ROM shortly, and then the full version (with the menu and "Enhanced" version of the game) after I've sold 'x' number of copies of the physical game. Perhaps when 200 copies of been sold. This was an expensive game to produce and I'd like to recoup my costs. :)
