alright, my friend and i put up 250 bucks to get this arcade machine

it WAS a tempest machine, (the cab still is sideart and all)
but the actual game and controls are different, the game
is street fighter II: the world warrior

and we got it for "cheap" because it was "out of order"
so i am in need of help.

we plug it in, turn it on, the screen powers up but then nothing.

what am i to do? is there a site? is there someone here to help me?

alright, the sound works fine, so we know it has to be the monitor somehow.

the monitor will turn on, but then appear to turn off,
and it will make a squeaky beep sound every second or so.

and if we turn off the power or let go of the back door button
the screen will "turn off" completely

anyone know what this may be?

well, we let it warm up some more, and now it has returned to the

alright, the monitor is an 19-inch Electrohome GO7.
It seems to be a common monitor with games of that time.

Still makes the chirping sound, and like i said
i turn the machine on, it flashes on and goes off again

but before it WAS working fine, but large black lines on the left
appeared.

alrights again

the monitor if left off for a bit of time, when turned on and left on
for a bit of time (10 mins) the chirping will get very loud then eventually
the screen will go on, the black lines will be thick and eventually
wear away only to come back again right soon then eventually the screen
display will begin to shake till eventually flickers on and off as the chirping
slows down again and it will flash to the chirping then the screen will no
longer be active

I think it may be something wrong with the flyback but im not sure.
anyone got a cheap g07? :P

Man i think its just like the man said

OUT OF ORDER!

maybe the game board has worn out?
that happens after a long period of time!

On computer monitors the chirping sound was normally a blown capacitor. I think that is what it was. It would wistel among other thigns. Find the wistling or a cap with a hold in it. Then that is probably the problem. But I have to warn you. At of the 7 years we had about 5 monitors like that and I think only 1 worked after replacing the wistling component.

Everytime I post a monitor question anywhere, the first answer I get is, "install a capkit!" So, I will pass that on to you -- install a capkit! It's a cheap investment and DOES solve a lot of problems. And if it doesn't, you're only out $10 and an hour or so of your time.

Sounds like the flyback to me. You can get a new one along with a cap kit for around $30.00 from Bob Roberts.

The "chirping" you hear is the x-ray protection circuit shutting down the high voltage. This is a very common problem with the G07 monitors, and a cap kit will usually fix it. I'd grab Bob Roberts' repair kit and just rebuild the entire chassis PCB. http://www.therealbobroberts.com
