Most Interesting End Label?

Which 2600 cartridge would you say has the most interesting end label?

The Coleco games have good ones... Venture maybe? Or maybe a misprint like Pole Posit'n?

Blatantly Neglected Cartridges

What is the most blatantly neglected or abused cartridge you have seen offered up for sale?

At a flea market I once saw several loose games in a plastic shoe-box that had 3/4 inch of water in the bottom. Maybe they were just getting a bath... Yeah!

What Classics Haven't Been Ported to the 2600?

Now that we have cool ports of games like Ladybug, Halo, and Boulder Dash, what other games would you like to see on the Atari 2600? I'm thinking of:
* Rally X
* Alien Syndrome

The Footpedal Controller and STARGATE

Sat Jun 4, 2011 4:53 PM

I picked up a QJ (“Quality Joystick”) SV-129 Footpedal controller a while back, thinking I would try it with a driving game. Maybe everyone else has seen these before - it was new to me. The footpedal has a standard cable that plugs into a controller port on your 2600 console. Then it has a second cable that you can plug a joystick into. You can use that joystick as you normally would, OR you can divert functions to the pedals by setting switches. So for example the orange foot pedal can take over the “fire” function in a game and the green can take over the “up” function. It’s a clever device!

Fast forward to today: I still haven’t used the footpedal with a driving game. BUT I recently decided to give 2600 STARGATE a good spin. The game does an amazing job of re-creating the original arcade game experience. It’s set up so that SMART BOMBS, INVISO, and HYPERSPACE are activated by the second (port 2) joystick. That is a good thing: they didn’t try to compress all of the functions into a single joystick. Still, switching to the second stick can break your concentration when you need it most.

Bing! The footpedal controller is perfect for this game. All of the port 2 functions can be assigned to pedals so you can keep your hands on the port 1 joystick. I think this control scheme might even be preferable to the arcade multi-button panel. So I thought I’d spread the word: If you’re into Stargate consider giving the footpedal a try.

This is the arrangement I’ve been using:
