new 400 today with an embossed "412", printed "489543" and "AV168668 10/8" handwirtten.
(the machine is CTIA with non-Atari 48K RAM upgrade)

I'm beginning to think we've been had.

Why sell them as a package and not as individual units? Why the unusual $500 shipping charge? Why has no one cracked the reserve price yet (bids at ~35K).

I think the seller is just trying to get an idea of the current market value. I suspect that the reserve has been set to a crazy level and no one will get close.

I created them using Windows 7 sound recorder - the first few seconds of most of them are blank, and the rest of the sounds are very quiet. Try the "810 seeking and stepping" from about 12 seconds onward.

My mic is rather crappy so the sounds are very quiet - are these usable or should I source a new microphone?
