There are a few very early carts that will not work on an xl/xe/xegs, the k-razy range for example.

Really? I have K-Razy Shootout, the slightly rarer K-Byte version, and it works fine on my 800XL. The only game that won't run is Gorf. I want to get an 800 so I can finally play it.

you are correct, my mistake, I was thinking of K-Razy Antiks and K-razy Kritters

It's also worth noting that the xegs with keyboard takes up more than double the desk space of an xl/xe

I recomend Candles Ultimate 1 meg ram upgrade, it has multi OS built in, and RTC, and SDX.
600XL's are cool because of the small footprint, and in general they came with the Alps keyboard, problem with the US ones is that they only have RF output
1200xl's look great, have great keyboards (when they are working) and loads of space inside for all your lovely mods.
Really you pay your money and take your choice
