800 Keyboard space bar repair?

My 800 has a dead space bar. I have checked with a multimeter and there is no connection being made.
The keyboard is a PCB with switched soldered directly to it, no mylar, traces are intact.
On removing the key cap, I can see 3 copper(?) prongs that look like they should make contact with the larger single copper contact on the other side of the key.
At some point, it looks like these have been bent out of shape.
I have straightened everything up, but still no joy.
Any ideas?
Anyone got a good 800 keyboard for sale cheap?

(this 800 was a demo machine at my local Atari dealer (May's Computers) in the 80's, so probably too quite a pounding)

An old work colleague just came by my house this evening, he is transport manager for a local large scrap/recycling company.
He was walking through the yard this morning and spotted an 800xl about to be crushed, he ran over and stopped the driver of the bulldozer and managed to save it.
He also rescued a 1050, two 1027 Printers, and half a dozen Page 6 magazines.
Unfortunately he was too late to save the box loads of software, and the other 200 odd mags he reccons, god knows what else got wasted today.
So far I have tested the 800xl, and it works fine so far, it looks like crap as it is yellowed and dusty, and that was before it got doused in mud.
I'll try and post some pictures of what he has given me later.

Can't help thinking about the poor software though :_(

XBOX, softmod using mod chipped xbox?

I have an original xbox with a DuoX2 chip fitted. I would like to soft mod a mates xbox with a larger HDD,
Is it possible to do this at all?

Atari 400: Odd keyboard behavior

I have a strange problem with my Atari 400.
I have a new keyboard from BE, and the old semi faulty keyboard.
When in MEMO PAD, the new keyboard is fine and registers all key presses, the old keyboard only registers a few keys.
With BASIC cart inserted, neither keyboard is registered.
I have tried the BASIC cart in my 800 and it works fine.
I have also swapped the OS and the RAM from the 800 and get the same results.


Please help me to save this 400, any ideas what else I should check? I only have basic tools and a digital multi meter.
I have a very dead (red screen) 400 and a working 800 that I could swap parts from.

alternative os recomendation?

I have a 600xl that the OS Rom has just died (whilst watching Neumen demo)
Can anyone recommend an alternative OS Rom that I can burn onto an eprom.
At this point I don't want to go down the multi OS route for simplicity and laziness :)
Can I just burn the eprom and put it in the xl, or do I have to do anything else?
