Hehe! It's funny this is mentioned tonight.

An hour or so ago I was messing with my mame cabinet and played good ol namco pac man. After a while I flipped over to stella and played the 2600 version.
I spent more time with the 2600 version for some reason. Can't place it really, it just seemed more fun even though the graphics and sound stink to high heaven.

As stated above, I have to agree that the gameplay is pretty good.

ET still rapes goat asses, however!

In Topic: How to Make New PBI Devices

I too would welcome such an effort. While working at TV Guide a while back I was fascinated by their use of an ECI device on the 130xe to receive a sat signal and grab the guide data off of it. This is what renewed my interest in the Atari 8-bit computers. I had a few weeks in-between work projects last Christmas and, going throught the same article, I researched and purchased all the components on the PBI parts list but have not done anything with them yet.
Here's a few topics regarding the EPG Jrs used by TV Guide / Prevue. I ordered some out of intrigue and the handy rack mount they came with. Good discussions in these threads below...

In Topic: The future of the Stella emulator

Hey Steve,

Stella has always been my go-to 2600 emulator. Your work maintaining it over the years is definitely much appreciated by all and it still blows me away that a fellow Newfoundlander is on the case! You should pop a "made right here" logo in there somewhere. :)

As for software rendering support, I would nail down maybe one more release for it and give notice that it's the stella.x.x.software.render.FINAL and kill it. Stella, in its various versions, has been running perfect for me for an easy decade with no noticeable hiccups. If necessary, I don't mind rolling back to an older version for older hardware & software rendering etc.

"Great job m'son!" :)

PS: I'm going to do a little digging but I think I may have a 7800 here that I would be glad to donate. It would be a great opportunity to meet you as well. I've got my personal one that I must keep but I've also got a couple spares in unknown states of repair. I'll look into it either way but I'm in the process of renovation right now and everything is buried in boxes so it might take a little time to get to it.

Oh my God no way! This is brutally sad.
She was a darling and a huge asset to the Atari community with her plethora of contributions.

I haven't been on the boards in a while. Not the sort of news I want to return to.

Rest in peace, Alison. Every Atarian that read your many extremely helpful posts or was in contact with you will be crushed.

My deepest condolences to her loved ones and to my fellow Atarians.
