I'm using a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-850 TV thingy that Dell sent with my computer. I finally have my computer desk area set up so I can hook up my Atari 2600 using the thing, but the Atari 2600 'screen' flashes and there is something like a full second or two of lag.
Does anyone know how I can clear up the flashing and get rid of the lag? I went Googling, but couldn't find anything that was helpful.
Thanks.
Update: Lag has been eliminated, but I still need to get rid of the flashing and wiggling:

The Law of Attraction:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdtqLNeK6Ww&fmt=18#t=4m18s
www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4OPqmLrFxA&fmt=18
The Law of Attraction can never be turned off, so we might as well use it to have a joyful, luxurious, abundant, philanthropic life. Our thoughts are magnetic. If we usually think about what we don't like, we'll get more of it. If we retrain our mental magnets, we'll attract more of what we'd like to experience.

One must replace fear, worry, and doubt with courage, faith, and confidence regardless of prior negative patterns of experience.
Reality Creation
Attention freezes the object of attention, so restlessly anticipating something will put it off. This is simple quantum mechanics. The sooner you think about something else the sooner reality can get to work. Anticipation kills the future – it is better to have doubt than to anticipate, it is better to have patience than doubt, and there is no easier way to be patient than keeping yourself busy with other things.
Reality Creation Redux
Awareness/anticipation repels, ignorance/denial allows, and intent/emotional resonance attracts.
Law of Attraction vs Law of Awareness
Experience shows that negative possibilities manifest when we least expect them, and that anticipating them is what actually keeps them from happening. So how can focusing on negative possibilities attract them in one case, and prevent them in another? That is the paradox to address in this article.

Thoughts on Game Design:
I love randomness and replayability. I don't like it when games have everything in the same place. I want a fresh experience each time I restart the game. Most video games aren't games, they're static action puzzles. Everything is always in the same place and you must learn a sequence of predetermined 'dance steps' to win the game and you often have to die repeatedly to learn the sequence. That's not playing, that's tediously memorizing choreography. Many classic board games are perfect examples of what a good game should be. Video games should be able to surpass the randomness and replayability of board games, but they usually pale in comparison. It's sad. What a waste.
Related Quote:
"In principle, any game should be replayable. If you went down to the toy store, bought a board game in a box for twenty or thirty dollars, and then came home to discover that you could only play it once, you would be rightfully wrathful. Yet, this happens fairly frequently with computer games, and our customers are more or less resigned to it. Replayability, however, is no accident: it's something we as designers can build in on purpose … if we want to."

About batari Basic and Trying to Help:
Over 90 percent of the text on the bB page was written by batari. Some text is from AtariAge members such as SeaGtGruff, RevEng, and Robert M. All I did was rearrange some of the info, make suggested changes, and add little things here and there. I still don't understand half of the info on the page.
Every time I try to help someone else who is working on a batari Basic program, it helps me to understand bB a little more or to get more comfortable with it and that means I might get some of my own games finished. I'm not even close to being an expert, especially since I seem to forget more than I learn, but I will help if I can. Every time I try to help you, it helps me, so it's not a bother.
Just remember that if you post your code, it should be overflowing with REM statements that describe what each part of the code does. That makes it easier for people who might want to help (and it helps you too in the future if you want to edit your code). The AtariAge forum allows us to upload .bas files and .bin files, so instead of posting your code in a code box, you can just attach your .bas file so people can easily download your program and get to work.

Thoughts on Helping in General:
We all know that if you help others, it will help you too in one way or another and that's fine; it's just a fact of life. You couldn't change it if you wanted to no matter how selfless you'd like to be. The important thing is to try to always do the right thing for yourself and the greater good. You can do physical work or just be there for somebody and try to lighten their mood. If your help is all about trying to get laid, making a new friend, or converting somebody to your nutty religion, you're doing it for the wrong reason. Help because it's the right thing to do and because it needs to be done.
For many people, it seems sex is the main motivation for doing anything. If they're in a band, it's not about making uplifting music, it's about getting as much sex as possible. If they attempt to become rich, it's not because they want more control over their own lives and want to give millions of dollars to their favorite charities, it's because they want the best sex money can buy. People even judge their own lives and the lives of others by how much sex they've gotten lately. If prowling for sex in bars and other places is at the top of your list of what is most important in life, you might want to reexamine your priorities.
A seemingly thoughtless life on automatic crotch cruise control seems like such a waste when there are so many things we can do to help make this world a better place for everyone. There's nothing wrong with sex, but humans need to break out of the primitive mind-set that the main goal for doing anything is to obtain sex if each one of us wants to personally evolve to another level where we do things because it's the right thing to do for ourselves and the greater good.

About My Posts and Status Updates:
I often say things that pop into my head that I think are kind of funny. They are usually things a hack comic would say or worse. It's usually unoriginal immature toilet humor or plain old fluff. Sometimes what I say can have two or three or more meanings. It's like a diamond carved out of a turd; a multifaceted turd diamond that smells bad and has no sparkle. If you like to be serious all of the time or like pinky in the air humor heard on a yacht on the way to your exclusive country club, you'll probably want to skip most of my posts and status updates.

About Me:
I don't drink alcohol. I don't take illegal drugs. I don't abuse legal drugs. I don't smoke anything. I like to have a clear mind at all times. If plans change or there is an emergency, I'm always ready to leap up and go.
A lot of people have an 'I'll try anything once' mentality and that's how they build a rat's nest of complicated 'needs.' If you don't try it, you can't get hooked on it and think you need it. My needs are fairly simple and I plan to keep it that way. I have no interest in doing things like dancing, going to bars/nightclubs/strip clubs, gambling, or eating at fancy restaurants.
I'll never understand people who want to get tattoos or piercings or make their hair some goofy color or cut it into some weird shape. It doesn't mean you're a unique nonconformist rebel, it just means you're a pathetic follower who wants to be accepted by a certain group. If you want to be a real unique nonconformist rebel, you shouldn't fit in anywhere. There should be no little freaky group you're trying to impress. They can all eat sh*t and die. You'll refuse to wear anything special. You'll refuse to get tattoos or piercings and you won't color your hair or make some weird shape out of it. You'll just look the way the gods made you and you'll wear whatever is comfortable and doesn't itch. Screw the mainstream. Screw pathetic little freaky groups. Screw religions/cults. Screw the rich. Screw the poor. They can all lick your unwashed taint.

Health Problems:
I often wonder how many health problems could be toned down or maybe even 'cured' by drinking distilled water most of the time instead of soft drinks, coffee, or alcohol and taking chlorella pyrenoidosa (which can help clear out the crud).
A lot of people take Chlorella for various reasons. Check out the link below for more information:
Chlorella - Information and Recommended Uses
The point of taking Chlorella Pyrenoidosa every day is so we will be healthier and can hopefully keep various health problems from happening in the future. Instead of waiting until we are sick, then taking medicine to suppress symptoms, we can do certain things to keep from getting sick in the first place.
I found out that Chlorella Pyrenoidosa tablets don't work for me. It seems I need Chlorella Pyrenoidosa powder by itself or powder in a capsule. This video shows the tablet form and the powder, but they don't mention capsules:

What does STS and STO stand for?
STS stands for “service to self” — it’s a term that originated with the Ra Material (aka The Law of One books).
STO means “service to others” — both these terms were used in abbreviated form later in the Cassiopaean Material.
These represent the negative / positive spiritual orientations, or paths of spiritual evolution. The STO path serves self by also serving others. The STS path serves self at the expense of others. STO is the path of balance and maximum freewill, while STS is the path of imbalance and maximum control over others.
There’s a common misconception that STO means never serving self, and blindly serving others and getting eaten alive by abusers taking advantage of one’s kindness.
That is not at all what STO is. STO is serving the spiritual upliftment and empowerment of others, which doesn’t happen when you’re just feeding their egos or predatory impulses.
If you are unwise and ruin your health and life overextending yourself, you end up reducing your lifespan and energy and thereby reduce how much total positive impact you can have. Which is why STO is about balance and maximization, balance between self and others.
STS is a path of evolution in the sense that one becomes more perfected as a separated fragment of the Creator, by rebelling against Creation and trying to make everyone else an extension of your will. The end destination of that path is to merge with the sleeping half of creation, which is physical matter. Before that, such beings make it up the ranks of the demonic hierarchy and eventually cave in on themselves from being so dark and low vibrational.

Proof that Atari 2600 games are harmful to men!

Look at this:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFPyfwdDvgE
No one is immune! Even Pelé quit soccer to play Atari! Take a look:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bPjk3o5mFc
Don't let Atari turn you into a little boy! Go out and do manly things like chopping wood, watching NASCAR, or having an affair.
When asked "Have you played Atari today?" your answer should be "No!" Don't believe their happy family propaganda:

Do old saves work with Fallout 3 (Game of the Year Edition)?
Fri Dec 30, 2011 1:27 AM
I now have Fallout 3 (Game of the Year Edition), but I played the older version first for a little while, so I have some saved games. Now that I have installed the stuff from the second disc, do I need to start all over again, or will my old saves work fine? I don't want to miss out on anything because of an old save messing things up and 'cock blocking' new content.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Battlefield 3 (single-player) is horrible!
Sat Dec 10, 2011 8:52 PM
The only good thing I have to say about the game is that it lets you skip cut scenes. In case anyone wants to know, here are a few things that I hate about the game:
__
This game should cost 10 dollars at the most. That crappy downloadable rip-off Battle: Los Angeles game was more fun than Battlefield 3.
__
- I installed the stuff the game tells you to if you want to have better graphics, but the game doesn't look any better than any other game I've played on the Xbox 360. If the game looks that unremarkable with the install, it must look really crappy without it.
__ - The Frostbite 2 technology they mention on the back of the box that is supposed to take destruction, scale, and immersion to unprecedented levels is either pure crap or they don't know how to use it. You can destroy a few things here and there that they point out to you, but get in a tank and start shooting buildings and other things and you'll soon discover that very little can be damaged or destroyed.
__ - Although your character isn't wearing goggles or glasses, any time you look at or near a light source, the screen looks like somebody sneezed on it (as if you are looking through a camera with a dirty lens). It ruins any 'immersion' because it's a constant reminder that you are looking through a fake dirty camera lens instead using your own eyes.
__ - This is another game where you just run from point to point or follow a guy. There doesn't seem to be much freedom or alternative ways to accomplish tasks. Although it kind of feels like you are on rails most of the time, there are places when it can be hard to know where the game wants you to run next. Sometimes you can end up starting a section over because you weren't fast enough or went the wrong way.
__ - Like a lot of crappy modern games, many things you do in this game are in the dark. I guess it's a trick to hide the unremarkable graphics.
__ - There are spots in the game where control is taken away from you and you must press B or Right Trigger or Left Bumper and so on at specific times or you have to try again. Seems pretty stupid, not very fun, and unnecessary to me.
__ - Half the time I'll be surrounded by my war buddies as I'm zoomed in, taking out bad guys, then I'm suddenly shooting at my buddies because they ran around and popped up where the bad guys were and I'm being warned that friendly fire will not be tolerated. Speaking of friendly fire, there are more than a few places in the game where it seems impossible to know who the friendlies are until you shoot them and get a warning.
This game should cost 10 dollars at the most. That crappy downloadable rip-off Battle: Los Angeles game was more fun than Battlefield 3.
