Poll: 7800 Homebrew selection & a question about Space Duel
Posted 11 Mar 2010
First off, any chance Space Duel will be tweaked into having the tether mode? That's a very major point of contention for me as I'm a big fan of the arcade.
Okay... first poll here (sorry it's short), but thanks to one of The-top-dog's contests, I've got a $25 gift certificate burning a hole in my virtual pocket. Never bought a 7800 homebrew yet and wanted to pop the cherry on one of these.
I own an Asteroids upright arcade game and used to have Asteroids Deluxe up until recently. Great game, but it's still Asteroids - just a little harder.
Space Duel is an arcade game I used to have also, but haven't played one in years. Since I have this in no other form, kinda sorta leaning toward it.
Currently have Super Pac-Man on the 60-in-1 board in my Pac-Man cabinet, BUT... I absolutely love the game and wouldn't mind playing it on the 7800 once in a while.
Short and sweet, which one would you choose and why? -
Atari ST 314 Disk Drive or 1040ST computer
Posted 4 Mar 2010
In my continued quest to do anything productive with my 520ST (the 354 drive took a dump on me today), am looking for a 314 or a 1040 for reasonable. Real reasonable - as in c-h-e-a-p! I'd also be willing to trade my 520 toward a 1040 if you'd rather go that way for collecting reasons or whatever. Have some bits and bobs for trade too if interested:

Excellent reflection of society here, not for those with weak constitutions however:

Why is nobody interested in programming an improved DK?
Posted 10 Feb 2010
I just had this thought after reading yet another comment about how disappointing 2600 DK is/was/forever shall be. lol
A quick search and slightly better than a passive awareness of homebrews yields nothing that I'm aware of. Screw the hacks. Honestly, I'm tried of sifting through all the hacks of games with changed titles. It's beyond confusing and irritating. What I'd love to see is a completely re-written from scratch version of DK that features more realistic graphics, sounds, colors & gameplay. Lots of highly talented programmers out there, but maybe DK is a little too ambitious for 'em? lol I would think that with the superior programming tricks and knowledge people have attained, coupled with a higher memory scheme, we could have a 3-4 DK board(s) that look really nice...
Forgive me if this has been talked about before, but I haven't seen or heard of anyone attempting this yet. -
My small Donkey Kong collectibles collection
Posted 5 Feb 2010
I do have a Brach's Donkey Kong Country 'Fruit Snacks' box in perfect condition as well as another MIB, never opened DK action figure somewhere (can't locate 'em right now). Here's the rest. Vintage DK stuff is really tough to find 'round these parts!

BTW: isn't it nice, when you click on a pic, that it doesn't take up 2 friggin' screen sizes?!? You can do it too. Just reduce the size of your pics to 800x600 or less
Sorry - just a pet peeve. Hate scrolling to find the 'exit' button on some of these pics. lol
