Mouse Trap - holy mother of unplayability!
Tue Jan 17, 2012 7:10 PM
Has anyone else played this game recently? Almost completely unplayable using the regular Intellivision controllers. Graphics are great. Sounds are great. But the control is absolutely abysmal.
I grew up playing Mouse Trap on the 2600 - a conversion I thought was excellent. Especially considering how well the single-button maze change technique works. Intellivision's version has you pressing #1, #2 and #3 to open/close the various color coordinated doors in the maze, which is arcade correct, but yeesh! Doesn't exactly translate so well to the Intellivision controller and/or your memorization of what button<>color to press.
Haven't tried playing it yet with one of the joystick couplers for the controller, but I suspect they'd go a long way in the enjoyment of this game. When I had the Sticklers installed, many of these types of games became totally playable. Problem was, they're not perfect for the bulk of regular games and definitely took away from that certain Intellivision "feel" - which I typically love.
Almost need two systems set out at once. One with regular controllers and one with the joystick doodads installed. Or in my case, just NOT play games on Intellivision that fare way better with the joys since most all of those games are also available on other systems. Lady Bug totally rocks though with the Sticklers.

Donkey Kong Arcade high scores

How well are people doing at this? I did a quick search and didn't find a high-score thread or anything.
I think the best I've done so far is 33,800 using Mario. How about you guys and gals?
