In Topic: 7800 issues with Harmony and others

Just a note on the paddles incompatibility that was linked to my comments here:

I tried everything, replaced every cap in the offending 7800, every resistor along the paddle lines to the TIA and nothing made the paddles work. But I have 2 other 7800 consoles where the same paddles work just fine. The only thing left woulf be to swap out TIA, but that's too much desoldering for me to bother with, since I have other fully functioning 7800 consoles.

Just going by what we've seen publicly so far, this is the first upcoming XM title that actually looks like it's actually taking advantage of the XM, and not something that could feasibly have been done on the stock 7800. Looks Fantastic.

Look at it this way:

Do you want to enjoy your heavy sixer for what it was built for? (playing games)

Or do you care more about how much money it is worth to some nutballs on the Internet?

Play your games and enjoy them. Life is too short to put your toys on the shelf and brag about how much money they might be worth some day.

If you go back and read through the Easier 7800 composite mod thread, you'll see where I noted that the 75ohm resistor isn't necessary, and not including it actually alleviates some ghosting on Pole Position II. Don't use it.

Wow, really? There's like 3 threads already on the first page of the 7800 forum discussing 7800 video mods. You wouldn't even have needed to use the search tool.
