In Topic: What's the deal with Star Castle 2600?

Mon May 21, 2012 3:36 PM

I have been out of the AA loop for some time and actually heard about solidcorp's KS project via the Major Nelson (XBox Live Spokesperson) podcast this morning, luckily just in time to put down my $50 order for the cart. I have also just stayed 45 minutes after work to catch up on this entire thread. What a read! As a HUGE Star Castle fan, I want to say thank you to BOTH of the programmers who worked on SC projects. Guess I need to start logging into AA more often so that I don't miss more incredible games (and stories) like this one.

In Topic: Dreams you had involving arcades or arcade games

Just came here to post a similar thread and saw this topic. I woke up this morning after having a dream that my car broke down. I was walking in the rain and came across this old, run-down thrift store all Rocky Horro Picture Show like. When I went inside, they have dozens of arcade games, all on sale for $50 (rare stuff like a cockpit Sinistar, EDOT, Computer Space, etc), every home console known to man (and some that I had never seen before) and chests full of game carts. Wish I could find such a place in RL.

In Topic: Tron-what was your first reaction?

tron isn't a bad game. it just gets old after a while. DOT is significantly better due to the different pseudo 3d gameplay, etc. the four tron games with the repeating patterns just get tiring to me. i ended up trading mine for a tempest due to that.

I too owned a TRON UR in my collection and was unbelievably stoked when I got it. I played the crap out of it, but once I got good enough to get to level 10, I quickly got bored with the gameplay. I sold it to purchase another one of my "holy grail' machines, Sinistar, and haven't regretted it. I have limited space in my basement arcade and can only keep 8 games at any given time. With all that said, if and when we move to a bigger house, TRON will be of the first machines that I would buy again. I am a HUGE fan of the original movie (saw it on opening day at the Contemporary Hotel Theater inside the gameroom there at WDW) and think that any arcade looks much better with a TRON and Satan's Hollow in it.

Update: Auction ended at $111.00, a bit more than I expected to be honest. Though I do find that final bids seem to go higher on Goodwill vs. Ebay. Might be the charity thing.

Just a heads up, I recently sold Golden Axe CIB Power Lords, so he may have a spare if you are looking for one.
