Red Sea Crossing Ad

Tue Aug 23, 2011 1:52 PM

Hey there, look what I found at the library today:

Christianity Today. October 7, 1983. Page 51.

Found at the Sacramento State University library. Incidentally I was really surprised to have found the ad so easily. I just decided to go to the library, thinking it would be a long shot. Christianity Today was literally the first publication I searched. It seems to be a fairly prominent magazine, so I'm surprised none of us knew about this game before 2007. I thought maybe there might be a small classified ad about the game, and I certainly did not expect a full page color ad given the game's obscurity.

Now who's going to be the first to track down the coloring book and audio cassette?

Rush Hour

Mon Aug 8, 2011 1:26 PM

It it not widely known that the Rush Hour binary out in public is not an original prototype. I made some small modifications, cleaning up for the CGE 2003 release.

There are three files that were given to me and I presume they are dumps of original chips. I'd rather see the binaries shared publicly, but it's not really my decision. The people who tracked down Rush Hour asked me not to share the files with anyone.

Still, I feel I can show you a video without breaking the agreement, thereby shedding more light on the history of the game.

If anyone wants to try contact the CGE organizers to obtain permission for me to post the files, go for it.

Auction: Combat 2 and Elevator Action

Thu Jul 7, 2011 9:35 AM

If you didn't make it to the 2001 Classic Gaming Expo in Las Vegas, here is a rare opportunity to pick up prototype reproductions Combat 2 and Elevator Action for the Atari 2600.

eBay Auction -- Item Number: 270777128919

I marked the condition as "good" because there are some slight scuff marks on the boxes. I'll post more detailed photos soon so you can see the exact condition.

By the way, it's an auction for charity supporting the Sacramento SPCA.

Anomaly in Conquest of Mars?

Sun May 29, 2011 6:59 PM

I'm often unable to shoot the center object:

ROM is the one from the AA database. It works fine in Stella. My CoM cartridge from the AA store also works well, although I'm unable to know if it has the same ROM.

How does CoM work on other people's Harmony Carts?

Go Fish! "Passive Mode"

Sun May 29, 2011 4:09 PM

I was playing an ordinary round of Go Fish! when I realized I didn't have to move. The little green fish were coming to me! :D Several fish later, I decided this was too much fun not to share and rushed to fetch my camera. Couldn't find my tripod in a hurry, so the video quality isn't that good.

There were seven green fish caught on video, and at least 15 in between takes. The fun finally ended when the level changed and an eel got my fish.

Has anyone else had this happen? I haven't been able to repeat it so far. Game was running on a preproduction Harmony Cart and the ROM is the one from the AA database.
