Ball knob mod for 7800 controllers and upcoming single jack A/V mod

The CX-24 controller for the 7800 has WAY to tall of a joystick, causing a lot of torque when you move it causing it to pull out of your hand.

I have been modding ColecoVision controllers with ball knobs for a couple of years now, so I thought I would do basically the same thing to the 7800 joystick. I experimented with different lengths and the height in the picture worked the best in my tests. This is a huge improvement IMO. $12.50 for 1 controller or a set for $22 + return shipping.

I am just starting to offer this and starting out is always slow therfore the first 3 people that send me a set get 2 for $15 + return shipping.

Comments/feedback on this mod are apperciated.

I will be offering a single jack a/v composite mod using the longhorn board very soon. I want to offer it along with the Euro OS mod. If your interested send me a PM.

My friend got me excited about the 7800, especially Bob's homebrew games Scramble and Circus AtariAge. I had never played the 7800 before.

I had heard how horrible the CX-24 was and could tell there was issues with the joystick without even playing with it. I knew I had to come up with a fix since I am a right handed joystick gamer and didn't want to use the Euro game pad controller especially for Arcade games like Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Dig Dug, Pac-Man and so on.

I removed the stock joystick top, shortened the shaft, threaded it and installed a ball. This is very much like the controller mod I do on the ColecoVision. I got one finished last night and am posting 2 pictures to show what it looks like. Feels great, but I have to wait until tonight to test it at my friends. My first 7800 is on it's way FedEx.

I will offer this mod as a service. Send me the controllers and I will install the ball mod

how does the high score cartridge connect to the 7800

I am wondering how the high score cart connects to the 7800...I mean the game that is being played would have to be connected continuously along with the high score cart. Some kind of pass though like a game genie? Could someone post a pic please?
