The single best defense we have against another crash is the internet.
In 1982 there was no IGN or Gametrailers or Metacritic or what-have-you for the consumers to turn to to inform their purchases. So when the shovelware started to pile up and the industry got choked with too many consoles, there was no reliable resource by which consumers might discern the diamonds in the rough. With the relative certainty that most of what was on the shelves would be crap, and no way to find out otherwise, the market crashed.

About Me
I'm the guy in that picture. The pretty lady is my one and only (5 years and counting!).
I'm a sarcastic Canuck. I'm a writer and an academic - both aspiring. I collect classic games and consoles. My specialty is the NES but I'm big on the 2600 as well.
I enjoy making people laugh.
I currently live in Ottawa, Ontario and I attend Carleton University as a graduate student pursuing an MA in English Literature.
Drop me a line, I always value friendship.
These are the things I am looking for right now. If you have them, give them to me now! I may even pay you for them!
Consoles:
Game Boy Advance SP AGS-101 (The backlit one)
-Must have a flawless screen, good clicky triggers, and hold a charge! I don't need a charger, but a case couldn't hurt. Not picky about color, but the black one is my favourite! (In Canada, we spell words with extra vowels. Remember that)
Games:
Atari 2600 Commons
Any NES Games
Any Genesis Games
NES:
Crystalis
Dragon Warrior 2
Dragon Warrior 3
Dragon Warrior 4
All Megaman Games3
Genesis:
Castlevania Bloodlines
Contra Hard Corps
Gunstar Heroes
Phantasy Star II

Sooner or later we're just going to all have to learn to grow our own food, sew our own clothes, and program our own homebrews.

The way I understand it, freebies go poof, but discounts are yours to keep. Right?

Guess I was a bit hasty in the last post. Some of the TG-16 roms I was trying to get running before were bad dumps, which is why they didn't boot. Duh. I can go ahead and say now Mednafen is easily the best TG-16 solution on Wii.

I have given WiiMednafen some time, and I'm quite happy with it! Some of you were complaining about the UI - the way you guys were talking, I thought I was in for a command line or something! As it stands, I like the interface. Sure, maybe not as pretty as the GX emulators, but it's simple, uncluttered, easier to navigate, and it works.
As for the actual emulation, I think the Genesis emulation is an improvement over Genesis Plus GX. The NES is a-ok as well, but FCE GX is already perfect enough for me, so I'm not worried. The GBC emulation is better, but the GBA emulation is comparable in terms of slowdown to GX, so a bit of a letdown there. Still, however, there is less latency to go around, so I prefer WiiMednafen for Game Boy games of all shapes and sizes now.
The Virtual Boy emulation is a nice addition, runs perfectly, and has plenty of features and color filters. Very nice! Neo Geo Pocket emulation is also great, I've got the whole library on my Wii now (lots of fighting games!). The PCE/TG-16 emulation, on the other hand, appears to need work, as while the games that run are fine, many won't even boot. I'll stick to HuGo for now.
All in all, a very nice combo emulator, and I'm very interested in seeing where future updates lead.
