In Topic: If you could only have one system from each generation...

ok I'll give this a try...

0 generation: Odyssey - finally got one... interesting device...

generation 1: Atari 2600

generation 2: Atari 5200 - possibly one of my most favorite consoles overall... I love just about every game on it!

generation 3: I chose NES... it was real difficult to not choose the SMS.. this is my favorite era and where I grew up!

generation 4: another tough choice, but I choose the Turbo Duo... I love the Sega Genesis too, but the Turbo get a small edge for me...

generation 5: PlayStation - huge library, with games of all genre to suit! though I will miss several Sega Saturn titles... :(

generation 6: PlayStation 2 - another huge library with many games of all types that suit... and many Dreamcast titles were ported over, though I would still miss the ones which weren't...

generation 7: Xbox 360 - it's the system that has all the shooters I love to play... as well as some RPG.. my 360 is nickname Cavebox 360!

In Topic: Arcade Games With Analog Joysticks

one game that comes to mind is Space Harrier... the arcade has analog control... the only port that offers it is the Sega Saturn version (I play using the mission stick)

*there was a Space Harrier collection on PS2, but I've never played it so I cannot confirm if it utilizes proper analog control...

Ooh, thought of another one: the original Metal Gear. I always see it on top 10 NES games lists, but I simply don't see how this is anywhere near the quality of such top NES games such as SMB3, Contra, Duck Tales, Metroid, Castlevania III, Punch-Out!!, LoZ, etc...
WAY overrated, IMO.

I can clearly recall, when Metal Gear (NES) was new (I was about 12-13) most kids at my school actually didn't like it.. it was slammed for its lack of action... I remember renting it and after a while, it's non action, stealth/covert style grew on me...

it's weird that during its time, the game was generally disliked... and now today, Metal Gear is held in such high acclaim... :ponder:
if one is to be called overrated, I would say Metal Gear Solid is the overrated game... it's high praise has trickled down to that anything with Metal Gear in the title is automatically a great game... so far as that even the once loathed NES game has become an all time classic...

In Topic: What consoles are on your "to-buy-list" or "wish-list"?

Sun May 6, 2012 12:28 PM

there's several consoles I'd like to have... not in a big rush to get these, but if I see them locally, I will grab them for sure!!

Bally Astrocade
APF-m1000
Amiga CD32
Pioneer Laseractive

consoles I've had and sold, I wouldn't mind having them again, but I've sold them once, so they are very low priority...

Bandai Pippin @world (sold mine for $450 a few years ago!)
3DO (bought new in 1994 and sold it around 1997.. I see them all the time, and have considered getting one, but as I see them often, I hold out and buy games and such I am more interested in playing)
