Wanted: Bubsy for the Jaguar (CIB)

Well, I didn't want it to come to this. But it has to.

I need Bubsy for the Jaguar.

*shudder*

CIB is a must, unless you have a cart-only (or just cart and manual) super cheap.

Not sure what to offer, but I'd like to pay by PayPal. I might have stuff to trade (can send a list), but a lot of stuff in my collection is off-limits so it might be tough to work something out.

Oh yeah, I prefer to buy from someone in the US for the sake of reliability (less chance of the package getting lost) as well as shipping speed.

Defender 2000 - Released in '95 or '96?

Tue Feb 7, 2012 7:33 PM

There seems to be some conflicting information on when this game was released. Or at least, conflicting information as far as I can find right now (most gaming sites are blocked since I'm at work). When was Defender 2000 released? I am told some sites (like MobyGames) list it as '96. However, the manual scan in the AtariAge database has a copyright date of 1995. Does anyone know for sure? Perhaps someone who actually bought the game way-back-when can vouch? I'm not necessarily looking for an exact month or day, I'd just like to know what year it was actually released in.

*edit: Sites claim that Zoop, NBA Jam T.E., and Attack of the Mutant Penguins were also released in '96 (FFL not withstanding, of course), so if that's true, maybe D2K being released then isn't so far off. The title screen and instructions say '95 though. Perhaps it just wasn't put out to the public until '96.

Cancelled/Unreleased Resident Evil GBC game made available!

Mon Feb 6, 2012 1:36 PM

Looks like the cancelled Resident Evil GBC game is available on the 'net now (I'm not sure if a ROM was available before, but my guess is "no"). It'd be interesting to try this one out. I recall looking forward to it, as along with Alone in the Dark: the New Nightmare, this was set to be one of the more impressive GBC games.

SNES run 'n guns, as well as "shooty" action-platformers?

Thu Feb 2, 2012 4:34 PM

In recently playing games like Contra and Gunforce for the SNES, I began wondering to myself, "What other titles in a similar vein are available on the system?" I know the Genesis has quite a few run 'n guns, as well as lots of arcadey, linear action-platformers that primarily revolve around shooting. I'd like to finally make an effort to find out what else is available for the SNES, then look into acquiring the carts if possible.

What I am looking for is anything that's straight run 'n gun, like Contra, Gunforce, etc., but also, action-platformers that focus heavily (if not primarily) on shooting. These must be linear for the most part though, as my least favorite kind of 2D platformer is of the sprawling, non-linear kind, like Daffy Duck in the Marvin Missions (blech).

Here's what I know of so far (omitting the Mega Man X games for their tendency to revisit stages):

Contra III: The Alien Wars
- Self-explanatory

Gunforce
- Run 'n gun like Contra, but slower/more floaty

Jim Power: The Lost Dimension in 3D
- Action-platforming revolving around shooting; game has some extra modes, but I'm focusing on the linear platforming/shooting stages here.

Super Turrican
- Some levels are large and explorative, but most are straight-forward

Super Turrican 2
- Like the above, but I believe more linear (IIRC)

Sunset Riders
- Walk 'n gunner (like that one? :P) based on the arcade game

Super Adventure Island
- Action-platforming revolving around "shooting", albeit without guns

Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts
- Like the above, the entire game revolves around shooting or throwing things

Joe 'n Mac
- Along the same line as Adventure Island

Joe 'n Mac 2 (?)
- Not sure if this one was arcade-like like the first, or if it went adventure-ish like Super Adventure Island 2
