Magicard Deal Gone Bad, Beware of this seller

Sun Apr 29, 2012 6:51 AM

I recently saw this Magicard Auction and Had it in my Watch List, I was thinking of Making an offer as the price sounded very good.

eBay Auction -- Item Number: 190668997625

The Listing was taken down and re-listed a few days later for $1500 or best offer. I decided to Put a lowball offer in, and I won it for $950

eBay Auction -- Item Number: 190669325518

I noticed that the seller said in this listing, she was selling her fathers collection. Immeadiately i think she may have some more rare games so I send her a message asking if she had any others she would be listing.
Paraphrasing-she only had an NTSC Asterix with a bad label. I told her I would pay her $75 for the Asterix, she agreed. I told her I had to move around some money for payment of the Magicard, but I wold go ahead and pay right now for the Aasterix.

I sent Payment to tgniglas@hotmail.com Lynda Saling for the $75

Everthing was fine and I was transfering the $950

the next two days I had several communications with the seller about the cart, I asked about its provenance and got really nothing, I also questioned its Authenticity and was given more pics and assured if anything was wrong I could send it back.
The label looked very very glossy. and kind of fishy. After many emails and assureing me it wa real, After abunch of things said and things just not adding up. I decided I would go ahead and get it anyway, with PayPal buyer protection and my great feedback I should have no problem.

I sent a message stating I would buy it no problem, but I would have it checked out by an expert and if it was real everything was fine.

I recieved an Email that she dad decided to keep the cart and the Asterix. and refunded my money

I did an Ebay info request and she lives in Wilsonville OR

The Name on her Ebay account is Lynda Salina, Not Saling as is in Paypal. I would assume the real name is Saling as in the Paypal account

I am 100% sure something was up with it and then I found this link as well

Excerpt From Lydasal:
lol - your retarded. Just took it down because people assume things all the time without taking the time to look. It will be listed again and is authentic.

BTW - nobody really listens to newbies on atari age. I'm one of the big sellers there and very trusted. You've been blocked. "

- lyndasal

Btw I did get my money refunded to me

When did you realize you were a collector?

Thu Mar 15, 2012 2:41 PM

In watching the posts in the thread, collecting: The Great conflict, this question came into my head and I thought it may make for an interesting topic. So when did you change from a gamer to a collector? I was visiting my parents in 1997 and found my Atarii 2600 in the attic and pulled it out. I hooked it up and played the games I loved as a kid. After bringing it home I decided to do an Ebay search and found a few loose games that I purchased. About a month or so later I found O'sheas on an internet search. I orderd like five games for around $3 each, I think.

I remember this very vividly , the games arrived and I opended the package to get them out to play them. After openeing up the box I kind of sat and stared at the sealed games, they reminded me so much of Christmas morning(really the only time I got games as a kid). I was about to open Dig dug and changed my mind. It felt wrong opening up the games that had already sat sealed for years. At that point I knew I was a collector. Since then I have purchased close to 800 more games, over 200 of them sealed. I feel compelled to buy a sealed game and perserve it as it came from the store.

I ended up getting a dig dug and the other games loose, but still have the games I got from O'sheas sealed and in my collection. I have never opened a sealed game that I purchased since my youth. I buy lots of 2600 games that I never play, sure I have around 75 of my classics that I play every once in a while

Just want to know if any of you remember the time when you switched from a gamer to a collector

Swordquest Waterworld what is in the box?

Mon Feb 20, 2012 4:16 PM

Just trying to find out what I need to have an actual CIB Waterworld. I have the box, game and manual. what else do I need? I asume it had a comic that was similar to Earthworld and maybe some sort of an insert for the contest. Any help would be appreciated.
