And now we say goodbye to GamePro.

This was my favorite magazine in it's heyday, and I still have the entire collection of it's first 7 years of publication. While it's not something most of us didn't see coming, it still sucks to see staples of gaming, like the arcade, leave us like this.

Heads up in Tulsa/Broken Arrow, OK. Cool new game shop.

Stopped at a place called All Your Base Video Games. GREAT little store! Very, very small, but their prices are insanely good. Only modern consoles, though. No classic stuff of any kind. Still, I got Quake 4 for the 360 for 5 bucks, and Perfect Dark Zero for 2. Buddy bought Halo 3 for 10, and the owner said he had priced it wrong. It was actually 7.99. Lol! That was what won me over right there. It's located at 41st street and county line (way out at like 193rd street), and man, it is WAY out in the boonies, but it was well worth the trip out there. Didn't find any websites for them yet, but figured I'd give a shout out to them. I'd much rather give someone like this my money than GameStop any day of the week. Hopefully, they'll be able to get a table at the next OVGE!

Hit my first big milestone today!

As of today, I now own 200 (203 actually) unique carts with no label variations! Took me a while to get here, but I love finding carts I don't have in the wild. It's also odd how I somehow miss very common carts in my collection, like Breakout and Grand Prix, but today was awesome, as I went to a buy two get one free sale and scored a dozen carts I didn't own, including 2 Intellivision carts I didn't have.

Man, now it gets tough, though. From what I've heard, 200 is sort of that magic number where you have most of the commons, and now it gets expensive to collect. What's even worse for me is that I collect for EVERY system I own, so it's either grab a few 2600 or NES games, or save up for a 360 game I want. Decisions, decisions...

Got a Famicom cart, need someone with import experience here

Sat Jun 25, 2011 1:01 PM

So, I picked up a Famicom cart for a freakin' DOLLAR on Friday. At first, I didn't think it was even a Famicom game, as the case is banana yellow, but it looked very much like the shape of the carts, so I figured hey, it's a buck, no loss if it's for some Chinese knockoff system.

Well, getting it home and opening it up (hard, since there are no screws, it just opens with plastic clips), and taking the chip and popping it into my handy homemade Famicom Converter (via an extra copy of Gyromite), it IS a Famicom game! Works perfectly, too.

Now, in the game, you're a little green guy with a bandana. I guess the goal is to go around and collect these gold coins, while you're constantly beset by ninjas of various colors. If you take too long, what looks like a cloud of green gas slowly follows you around. You shoot boomerangs as your main weapon, but it's HARD to get them to go where you want. The cover of the game has a red ninja fighting off a slew of green ninjas with comically oversized shurikens, with a weird blue guy wearing striped shorts in the corner. It says "LA-29" in the lower right corner, as well. Also, for some reason, there is a hole that goes completely through the cartridge on the upper left corner (and not something someone drilled, it's designed this way). On the back is some hilarious Engrish, too.

"REMARKS Since this is a sophisticated apparatus, should avoid to operate or to store under extreme temperature, also avoid violent bumps is necessary: moreover, never disassemble it. The reasons causing defauts are: Touching the end field by hands, or cleaning by wet materials."

Now, my guess is that this is a pirate cart. The game itself is total ass, but the cool factor of owning this is beyond description. Does anybody have any clue as to the name of the game, or if there's a website I could go to? Google turned up very little. Thanks in advance!

Supercharger questions

Sun Jun 19, 2011 10:46 AM

So, I FINALLY got myself a Supercharger (damn good price, too, 25 bucks!). Now, I have a few questions.

First off, I have no games for it, or even a working old type cassette player to even use with it (I know you can get them at Wally and Radio Shack still, but meh). So, how exactly do you go about making a CD to work with it? I've also heard you can use an MP3 player. I have an older style IPod Shuffle (the one that's about the size of a pack of gum, with the ring style button controller on the front). Again, how do I use this? I've been dying to play some Supercharger games for a while now. I've also heard you can put the ROMS of non-Supercharger games onto a disc/MP3 player and play them, sort of like a Cuttle Cart?

Thanks for any info. I'm very new to the world of the Supercharger, and want to dive as deeply into it as I can!
