Wanted: Super Blockbuster for Microvision

Fri Jan 6, 2012 8:23 AM

Hi there,

I've got a complete set of North American Microvision games. However, there is a European-only release, Super Blockbuster (#8, black), that I don't have. Note that this is "Super" Blockbuster, not the regular Blockbuster that was sold with the system.

If anyone has this cartridge available for sale, please let me know, either in this thread or by PM. I really only need the cartridge, but the box and instructions would be a bonus.

I'll offer $40 to $50 depending on completeness, plus shipping. The price seems generous to me, but I could be wrong, so feel free to reply with a counter offer if you have one available.

Thanks for looking!

Wanted: Arcadia 2001 commons

Fri Nov 4, 2011 8:23 AM

Hi there,

I'm making a new version of an Emerson Arcadia 2001 multicart. See the details here: http://www.atariage....n-any-interest/

As part of this, I need a bunch of loose carts, ideally common. The more the better. These can be either the short or long box versions, with or without the hood covering the edge connector. The only requirement is that the plastic cartridge housings needs to be in decent shape.

If you have some available, please send me a PM. I can pay via PayPal, or can provide credit towards a purchase of a multicart.

Thanks,

Arcadia 2001 Multicart - 2011 version - any interest?

Wed Nov 2, 2011 11:22 AM

Hello Arcadia 2001 fans (the few and far between? ;) ),

I recently purchased a Leisurevision, which is the Canadian version of the Emerson Arcadia 2001. I only have a few games for it, so I'm going to make a multicart for it. If it's only me who wants it, I'll go the quick-and-dirty method, hacking one together. If more are interested, I'll make a proper version, with the following features:
  • Includes all standard games that I'm aware of (Emerson and international games)
  • Includes enhanced versions of some of the games (as per Amigan website)
  • Includes (mostly subtle) alternate versions (as per theoldcomputer and Amigan)
  • Includes homebrews (as per theoldcomputer and Amigan, unless otherwise notified)
  • Total of close to 100 selections available
  • Does not include Tetris, which has a recent copyright notice (sorry, not a very good feature ;) )
  • Includes some (but not all) demos and test software to fill up the ROM space
  • Uses extra wide dip switches that should be able to be switched by hand (no pen or small tool required)
  • Full colour label on front and back of cartridge
  • Front of cartridge has listing of main games, for convenient switching
  • Back of cartridge has listing of enhanced and alternate versions, as well as demos and test software
  • Hopefully compatible with both long and short cartridges (short ones may not have as much listed on front)
I think that's it. Price would be about $110 plus shipping, via PayPal, which compares well with previous versions. I only have a handful of cartridges, so depending on demand, I may be looking at providing a kit (everything but the cartridge casing) or purchasing some commons (to be determined at a later date).

Thanks,

Here's an "non-artist's rendering" ;) of the cartridge, showing the extra wide dip switches. Don't worry, the final result would look much different than this:

Hi all,

I'm not sure what's going on here, but this could be interesting:

Edit: copy of the post text from Sydric at cgcc.ca:

Hey folks. We continue to receive some of the coolest things at the Personal Computer Museum and this one is definitely up there.

I'm going to start this thread out as a bit of a teaser.

If you watch EP DAILY tonight at 6:30 PM EST on G4, during the "Rundown" you will see exactly what I'm talking about (it will also be aired tomorrow night on Citytv).

After it has aired I will post more information here I promise! This is truly exciting news!

Neo Geo repair

Tue Aug 2, 2011 1:55 PM

Hi all,

I'm trying to repair a Neo Geo for a friend. I'm not too familiar with these...

I've got some Japanese fighting game plugged in (something "2"). The splash screen shows up, stating "MAX 330 MEGA" and "PRO-GEAR SPEC" in the middle of the screen, and "SNK" at the bottom of the screen. At the top, the "NEO GEO" graphic should show up, spinning and whatnot. It does... however, it's at the very right of the screen, with half of it cut off (beyond the right of the screen... .). During the demo of the game that follows, some items are also too far to the right, with some items displaying correctly in the middle (usually text). The fighters are usually displayed too far to the right, and sometimes they've got parts missing from them. With no cartridge plugged in, a yellow screen shows up. The sound is fine.

I've replace two pairs of RAM that are near the 176 pin "LSPC2" chip. One pair was a "5863" DIP, and one pair was a "43256" SOIC. The RAM swap at least didn't do any harm, because the symptoms I'm getting are exactly the same.

Have I selected the wrong RAM to swap out?

If it's a RAM problem, there's only a few choices left: a "6116" DIP by the Z80, a pair of "43256" SOICs by the 68000 and YM2810, and a pair of "4364" DIPs fairly close to the 160 pin "NEO-B1"

Other details: Model NEO-0, serial number (90A)180618, board NEO-AE@3-5.

Any help would be appreciated by both me and retroillucid.

Thanks,
