I am firmly standing by my decision to not purchase this game ever. Online tether? I'll play my stacks of non-DRM filled games, thank you.

I'm in the same boat--there are plenty of games I can play to satiate my gaming needs. I'm looking forward to Torchlight II, and I still need to play a million Xbox/PC games, such as Mass Effect 2 and 3, Fallout Vegas, Deus Ex, Skyrim, and so on...

..Al

Count me on this as well. And I should also add that Tethering needs to be made ILLEGAL, like right now. It makes more pirates than it stops (people looking for cracks to get the damn thing to work) and it allows these companies to steal your money, especially when these servers eventually get taken offline for good and the game becomes useless (that is without an illegal crack).

In Topic: Anyone been to Game Over Videogames in San Antonio?

Hi Goldenegg. I live in San Antonio and been to Game Over a few times. Its a nice store with a friendly staff. Prices are hit or miss like any other type of store, but they have a good selection to look at. There's another place called Propaganda Palace (location at 2100 McCullough) that just opened. I havent been there, but the guy who opened it had a couple little stores at the indoor flea markets across town, so I guess business has been good and he branched out. As far as flea markets here, they are hit or miss...........thrift stores have dried up, as I have found nothing worthwhile in a loooong time.

Seconding what BadHornet said. Up until they opened up there were no independent stores in the San Antonio area - just GameStops. I've been to the Propaganda Palace stands at the flea markets but have not known about their new location until now - I'll have to check that out later. The best Game Over store is the main one up in Austin but the other ones, including the one here, are pretty good in their own right.

In Topic: Interesting article on $60 games and their future

"Some games aren't as long or offer less value than other $60 games," McElroy argues, "and would be better served at a lower price point. When you say 'every game is going to be $60,' you put a requirement of length and graphical quality that's really restraining. If I wanted to release an amazing 4-hour game to retail, it would be impossible."

i'm sure some companies would love to release cheaper retail games and know that they can't justify charging $60, however they don't want the stench of 'budget game' all over their release. personally i have nothing against budget games, i love them. in my experience the ones i've played usually offer concepts or plots that interest me, far moreso than big budget AAA titles. i don't need cutting edge graphics and gameplay and for say $30, i wouldn't give 2 poops if a game were only a handful of hours long. however that $60 comes with a 'hey, i'd better get my money's worth'.

Obviously he hadn't heard of "The Darkness II".

Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis was also released on the Commodore 64. I haven't played it but the graphics are ugly as hell...

Agreed. I consider the Amiga version the best with the PC version not far behind. The reason I know this is because I helped gametest it twenty years ago. I thought they were not going to release the C64 version but I was wrong. Recently had a chance to play the C64 version in an emulator and it looks like shit - pretty much the way I remembered it.

The only other game I helped test during my short stay at Lucasfilm Games was the NES game "Defenders of Dynatron City". That one was kind of shitty too.

Curious, what's the advantage of a Rev0 machine over other DreamCast revisions?
