Actually using that case was NIAD's idea, as I had never seen an auto dialer before. But I agree, I think we were very fortunate that Coleco ever created that case.

Kudos to NIAD!

Will the module have legs or feet as it looks to be "floating" in this picture (I know it’s not your final product). Just wondering since it looks like it just hangs onto the expansion port connection, which I would think would be bad in the long term.

It has a single leg. The expansion port on the ADAM follows the same specs as the CV, so modules can fit the same on both.

Cool. I have one of those ADAM dialers from eColeco but never took it out of the box (it’s still sealed). I think your use of the auto dialer as the basis for the SGM case was brilliant; you can't get any more "retro" on the design than basing it off something that actually existed. Nice work.

Ok, so I got the first reply from a potential designer for the SGM case. I am still waiting for a quote though. Let's hope we can reach an agreement. Unless it is an obscene amount of money, I would prefer to have the design made in the US (instead of, let's say, China), as it would be easier to communicate back and forth.
The SGM is going to be based on the ADAM auto dialer, what was an actual Coleco design. However some changes will be required, like removing the two phone jack windows. The final color is going to be of course black, and it will feature an official Coleco aluminum front plate (as it is in fact an officially licensed Coleco product).
For those who have never seen the auto dialer before, here is a picture of it plugged to the CV expansion port. I wonder if Coleco even designed with any ColecoVision application in mind, as it even looks nice when attached to the ColecoVision expansion port.

a few of us vectrex collectors managed to score a store display stand (kiosk) from a guy in Quebec a while back. he sold one on Ebay and and i think he sold three more directly. he delivered mine in person since i lived less than an hour away :)

they were all complete in box like this one: http://home.earthlin...ex/vecdisp.html

i think i paid around $700-800 for mine and the one on ebay went for $1000-ish

I always seem to miss stuff like this on eBay! Great score!

In Topic: Referring to peoples first names in the forums

Good post and an interesting question I have often wondered myself. I would think it’s perfectly OK if someone signs their posts with their name to use it in any response, or their forum name. I also don't usually refer to someone publically by name even if I have had dealings with them or contacted them via email or PM.

On a side note I do find it funny sometimes responding to someone in the forum by their AA name when I know them, especially if I am friends with them (friend friends, not just AA friends).

Maybe we should have a sticky on public forum etiquette? (Unless we have one somewhere already).
