Oh yeah. Renovation is one of the best things about collecting genesis. Tons of awesome shooters (like Whip Rush, Gaires, Arrow Flash, Sol Deace and Elemental Master), in addition to some solid RPGs like Traysia and Arcus Odyssey, and some really good side scrollers like Valis III, Slime World and the fantastic El Viento.
My personal favorite is Master of Monsters, which is a crazy deep strategy RPG of the first caliber. Nothing comes close to it on the system outside of the CD-only Dark Wizard. Well, that and Warsong/Langrisser.
I also really like Gain Ground and Granada. The later is a 'best kept secret' of the library IMHO.

Well, I don't know. You will have to send my the joystick to test out first and SEE if it's a good idea
Awesome dude. I want one. Alas that my soldering 'skills' resemble that of a mentally retarded dingo.

Would LOVE to have you at Cowlitz...You definately will score some good deals on games...several vendors there I know will have great prices and have a large selection of hard to find games. BTW Lord Thag has a very impressive game collection as well...
Cowlitz is a blast, and there is a LOT of stuff to score with a small, fun crowd to hang with. Good times. Drop me a line if you end up making it Metal Jesus, John's been pretty stoked about your videos. I should be there this year.
I do have a pretty cool gameroom, but it's nothing on the scale of John's place. I'm more selective, and collect for the systems I play (mainly the Atari systems, Genesis, PC Engine and especially the Neo Geo). What I do collect, I have a lot of though. John and I have similar tastes, so we tend to inspire each other to play/pursue different games. If you can believe it, I've known John since his collection consisted of about 300 NES games in a loft appartment. That was a while ago lol.
Alas, however, I am stranded in far northern california amongst the heathen, so I only make it up to Washington a couple of times a year. I plan on moving up that way, hopefully soon.

'Epic' is certainly the word to describe John's game room. Lots of fun memories in there for sure. I just hope I don't have to help him move it again anytime soon!
He's got so many games in there I think it's kind of created some kind of quantum singularity. I swear boxed air raids Neo Geo AES carts just materialize out of thin air in there.
Nice vid man. You gonna be at Cowlitz?
