GameCube Beach Spikers - Ulala!

I have been reading reviews of the GC title Beach Spikers.
At first I figured it was just a lesser Dead or Alive Extreme Beach Volleyball however Beach Spikers does have some pretty good reviews out there so now I'm thinking I might get it.
THEN I found out typing in the code ARAKATA allows you to play as Ulala! Now I am way more on board!

Anyone else got it? Is the game decent for single player? The reviews say it's not so great for single player but awesome for multiplayer. Unfortunately I just don't think I can convince the wife to join me if the game looks like this. She's not a prude, far from it, but I'm going to have a very difficult time explaining that I am enjoying the game for the sport of it all and not the bouncing.

Do PSOne black discs not work in PS3?

Hi there,
I bought Rebel Assault II for the PSOne yesterday at a retro game store. I put it into my PS3 which I have played other PSOne games in just fine before and although the LucasArts logo at the beginning of the game shows just fine, any video clips and actual game play do this weird thing where half the frame is stuck or the screen is completely dark and unplayable. I can hear just fine, I hear the actors and when the game starts I can hear my vehicle moving, I just can't see anything.

I read this forum thread where someone else mentioned other PSOne games with black discs (like my new copy of Rebel Assault II) no longer seem to work on a PS3 after a certain software upgrade Sony pushed out a while ago.

So I am just wondering if my PS3 can't play black discs, or is this old disc just defective? It does have a lot of scratches on it.

Anyone got the game and can throw it in an updated PS3 to test if it should work? The fact I can see the menu and opening logo makes me think it's not the PS3's fault but before I return it to the retro game store I want to make sure it's the scratches that are the issue here.

Favor to ask: send me a screenshot of Tron Deadly Discs?

Wed May 9, 2012 5:29 PM

Hi there, I am writing an article about the Intellivision version of Tron: Deadly Discs and I need a screenshot of the beginning of the game where we first see the three bad guys.

Assuming Intellivision and/or Keith Robinson wouldn't sue me for using images of their game without asking for it first, can I ask any of you who actually own an Inellivision to send me a screenshot? I don't own the console and it's a little bit of a hassle to find an emulator and a rom just for a single picture.

I specifically need the beginning of the game where you are in the center of the screen and the three bad guys initially show up.

legal rights to Atari 2600 images?

Mon May 7, 2012 12:31 PM

What's the legal situation if you want to use screen captures from Atari 2600 titles in a magazine? I haven't heard the latest on Atari going after people for copyright infringement but I know they killed Vector Tanks on iOS, and were shutting down sites like atari2600.com (I think that was the link).

Anyone know if they'll pursue a magazine that publishes screenshots from 2600 games? In the past I have tried emailing Atari for permission but never get a reply.

your least favorite pinball tables?

Mon Apr 30, 2012 2:28 PM

At a party a couple of years ago I managed to play Williams Junkyard and I must confess I was not that impressed. Maybe it has its fans but I didn't find it all that enjoyable.

With the recent Pinball Arcade being released and having lots of downloadable tables as DLC in the coming months it made me wonder if there are other tables I should avoid getting.

Surely there must have been some duds released over the years.
What are your least favorite pinball tables to play?

(apologies to anyone who already saw this same question of mine in another forum, I'm just sending it out to get as much feedback as I can)
