My game collection is quite small compared to most around here (although it is all sealed or CIB). I recently picked up a CIB Uchuu Senkan Yamato for the Gameboy. Been wanting it for a quite a while.
Programming from Scratch
Posted 30 Nov 2009
Not much going on with me these days Atari-wise. I have a few things in the back of my mind, but all would probably require a year or more commitment which I just don't have time for at the moment.
However, I am having a lot of fun watching my son learn the basics of programming. I've been thinking for some time about what the appropriate way to introduce him to programming would be and I think I've found it:
http://scratch.mit.edu
I downloaded Scratch and wrote a couple of small example programs for him to look at. By the next day he was writing pretty complex apps all on his own (multiple objects on the screen all interacting with each other and the user). If you have kids or just want to play around with something cool (adults use it too) have a look. For those with programming backgrounds, it's kind of like pseudocode reinvented as a Lego set.

Dungeon, Mini Game Compo, & Hawkwind
Posted 11 Oct 2009
I'm happy to report Dungeon is finally available on cart (soon to be in the store, but if you can't wait you can PM Al). I'm very pleased by the reception it has received and just want to say thanks again to the many people on this site who helped with play testing, suggestions, etc.
I've been approached by another AA member who wants to do a neat little project. I won't say who or what just yet, but something cool that is Dungeon related should be coming down the pipeline in the not too distant future.
I see the mini game compo has finally gotten the 2k underway. This is going to be my final time competing I think. I don't see the experience improving much.
As I've said before, Hawkwind is one of my favorite bands. Check out the backdrop film that kicks in around :37. Fits in nicely with the season.

Space Master X-7 is showing on FMC right now

The game doesn't appear to have much of anything to do with the film. Moe Howard has a small role!
What's new...

Nothing much.
Still waiting for Dungeon to come out in the AA store. Also waiting for the mini game compo (up to 3 entries now in the 2k category!).
Since I don't know if I'll do anything with Bifröst later, I went ahead and had a personal cart made of the compo version. Figured Al was busy enough, so I got CPUWIZ to do it. Just want to say he does quality work.
