Speaking of dual-Abobos--the jump kick is your friend there. Definitely the safest way to get past them. Funny enough, I remember renting a "Nintendo Tips 'n Tricks" (or something or another) VHS when I was a kid, and that is what they recommended on that part before the pink cave. Still works like a charm! It just takes a while though. Abobos towards the end of the game take upwards of 20 jump kicks to take down, haha. On a side note, they can be destroyed with about four or five elbows, so that means those do the equivalent of four or five jump kicks!

You mean this golden turd?...LOL!...we stole this VHS tape outta Zellers back in the day, lol!....I laughed my ass off when Seanbaby.com website made total fun of the US NATIONAL VIDEO GAME TEAM...lol! He was itching my retro itch before I knew I was scratching, lol!....circa 99?...his top ten worst NES lists killed me with laughter...lol!

I have officially 'given up' on this game, lol! I'm going to try the original cartridge tonight, just for laughs. I have had enough of the cheap deaths caused by glitches!...lol, so today, not only do I catch a could pink stalagmites in the head (well, one, not as bad as yesterday) due to head butting when all I wanted to do was back up...as you know, those rocks leave about a split second to decide whethere to go for it or not. And if you get hit once, you're pretty much f'ed in the A...you'll keep getting smacked, and if you're unlucky, the game will glitch you right over the edge when you move to the moving platforms!

So I made it past that, get to the blue rocks cave. This time, and dig this, one of the tumbling rocks appears out of nowhere from behind me, and I fall off the cliff in that pathetic looking 'fall' pose Billy does. Well, midair, I glitch a couple different directions, and I FALL RIGHT THROUGH the blue rock floor! I didn't even end up on the rock! So, I figure, "these blue rocks are coming in quick, gotta move!" All I should have done was just WALK OFF THE EDGE in retrospect, but I ...jumped. Which landed me in that friggin pit. Game Over (I actually died risking some headbutts on Abobo, first level, lol!).

I can imagine if I get up to those other levels what it'll be like...I really wonder if it's a bad ROM?...could that be the case? I've never had these kinds of things happen while playing the actual cart for all those years...I really wonder.

I can't totally complain but the cheapness of these falling deaths are really lame. Yes, I jumped into one pit, but who knew? I learned the hard way, but that falling through the floor took the cake. LOL!...still Double Dragon though, can't knock it. LOL!

That's what I'm saying...I hated having to start ALL THE WAY BACK at the beginning of a stage in Ninja Gaiden way back when, but even though it was infuriating, I wonder what it would have been like if I didn't have to? If I could play the same portion of the game over and over and over again until I eventually beat the game? The more time I put into the game, the more satisfaction I get at the end after finally defeating it. But in reality, I'm not sure. If the only thing I saved was time, would that mean I wouldn't have the same good thoughts about a game afterward?...that's why you can't compare today's games to yesterday's games. No more so than you can compare an arcade game to its NES counterpart...they're both designed to make MONEY, ultimately, but it's the fun factor that keeps you coming back on a home console. Fun factor, until you either destory the game completely or just give up from the difficulty.

That's why I find a lot of games today disposable...but what's the difference between Angry Birds and Kaboom! ? There's a lot more depth in Angry Birds I suppose but I keep coming back to Kaboom! for a quick fix...and the fact that I know my personal top score and can't for the life of me beat it. No way I'd be able to play Kaboom! for an hour, though...but I could play Angry Birds for an hour, easily. "Better" game design?...I dunno, because I'd RATHER play Kaboom! anyday over Angry Birds. Again....not sure why that it is, lol.

Many of the flashbased games today are completely disposable, in my mind. That's why I sometimes think about how I would react to those older games like Kaboom! today, if I had NEVER played them before. Would I like them?...at ALL?...lol. Who knows?

Wow, there are some crazy tips going on here. I've found that the only non-headbutt guys are Abobo....way too risky. I tried the kick/heabutt combos but unless they're stunned, the computer can duck your headbutt. Ditto on the life refills, it's the only thing that makes sense....but I guess this game doesn't give extra lives?...with a score like that Austin, it's hard to believe you didn't finish the game!...unless you lost those lives due to the loss of lives from maxing out the headbutts.

I kinda wish I took a screenshot now of my score; it really makes NO sense that I could have that kinda score considering where I was in the game...mind you I died quite a few times but if I had the skills to carry on it woulda been legend! Maybe I'll try again...
