  1. I would guess vinyl records never really stopped being produced completely. The demand definitely dropped but I think (especially in othe countries) maybe the demand was enough to keep some kind of production rolling. I also think whats needed to produce records is a little more obtainable for the average person (based on the amount of "homebrew" record makers out there) I honestly have no idea though, just guessing 😅
  2. Yeah, I went on a wild chase to the middle of nowhere last night trying to find the northern lights. Bad cellphone service in the woods and wasn't really keeping track of time so I missed out. I'm not mad though, I'm happy for you that they are this popular!
  3. Oh man...yeah, @BassGuitari might be correct now.... Bummer, even though I really have no skin in this game I still feel like I was just on "press your luck" and just got hit with my 4th whammy haha. I don't know, not being plastic kind of torpedoed all of my excitement away... I think at this point you would need some VERY solid proof to really have anyone believe it's not just a fan made poster...since there is a good chance that is what you have. Yeah, it might not have been super easy or cheap to make a poster back in 1999 but it definitely wasn't impossible or completely un-affordable...and I do believe you and all but just "saying" you acquired it 20+ years ago probably won't carry much weight either if you were to try and sell it. I think at best it hung in a video game store or something, but I'm really having doubts atari made it now since it's not plastic. That was what really made me think "this was NOT cheap to make and has to be something" Acquiring it from Mike Etler is kind of something though (although he did say a lot of "fanmade" atari stuff was passed around too when you contacted him) Bummer he doesn't specifically remember where it was from. That guy has been in the collecting scene a LONG time. I was aware of him even before I was a member here. IIRC he had the first "NES rarity" list. I still remember he had Qix as an "A-" (which was considered really rare) and I was so stoked that I found one in the wild. Flash forward to today and it's not that rare but still, was pretty cool at the time haha Anyways, if you are able to find anything else out keep us posted
  4. Oh wow... this is probably the most I've ever seen from the same owner. I'm impressed!
  5. I get it man, I do... For some games it makes sense (and I did mention that) but for many of them it seems kind of unnecessary... I guess if people are buying them though its a good move for the company. I'm just kind of surprised there is that much interest in say an "Outlaw" remake. Thats a pretty common game thats not really on the "A list" if you know what I mean The multicarts sound interesting though... Ultimately I really do want Atari to succeed...I'm a fan and will support as much as I can. Ive got a VCS and an Atari 2600+ but I kind of draw the line at buying games I already own, or can acquire originals much cheaper (food fight for instance) I understand its a good way for Atari to (cost effectively) get software out but... I wonder how many people saying they want or support these reissues of old games (they likely already own in some form, flashcards, etc) are actually PURCHASING them? It would be easy for me to say "remake Ninja golf" since I don't own it and its expensive with the box, but am I going to actually pay $30, $40 or $50+ for it? Probably not... Just thought I owed it to Atari to be honest...I'm not very interested in remakes of the same old games. but if other people are buying them and its making Atari some decent money....I totally support it 😃 so don't get me wrong here! By the way - Plutos and Sirius are 2 games that could really benefit from some minor tweaking. I think they would play well with some very small "enhancements" (assuming these IP are owned by Atari?) I don't know though...maybe not? 😄
  6. Ok, I thought of something... Scrapyard Dog on the 7800... I "want" to like this game, I really do but the difficulty is too high so I pretty much hate it. Maybe an enhanced version that is easier/more playable 😃 there are other things that could be changed to make it more fun too...
  7. 7800 ports of Atari Lynx games would be so awesome but I know...I'm being unrealistic again lol. I would like some way to play them though, maybe a VCS download? I'm about to buy an evercade just to play lynx games on my TV. The original handheld is just not practical for me anymore (or my eyes lol) I'm not sure how popular Lynx stuff would be though. I bought one at launch so I've got a lot of nostalgia for it, newcomers might not be impressed...
  8. Yeah, I kind of figured all this but thanks for the the response, I both respect and appreciate it. I know most of the homebrew guys already expect to make very little on their games but I suppose it could get really messy really fast if that line of thinking were to "be assumed" for atari 2600+ projects. I totally get it... Obscure arcade ports...one or two in the works?? Ok, sounds like we have a chance here Thanks man
  9. "Decades later Atari has decided to fix E.T" You might be on to something....
  10. I will add it doesn't have to be A list arcade ports, obscure lesser know ones are super fun too
  11. Im sorry to be blunt but I have no interest in direct reproductions of old games. Yeah, a very few might make sense and jazzy art packages do kinda tempt me sometimes but I probably won't ever actually by them... Something like 1942 for the 7800 would be an instant sale. Capcom has their old games everywhere (I think they are even built in the latest evercade) so they DO license their stuff out for sure. 7800 ghouls n ghosts would be an INSTANT purchase for many people too and it an/has been proven to be possible. Commamdo reissue would be one of the few that makes sense due to compatibility issues, etc... Basically we've kind of lost the ability to purchase (non atari) arcade ports now and I have a feeling a LOT of those were pretty good sellers...I know I pretty much bought them all and I'd love to keep buying them. Some kind of Ricki and Vicki release would be an instant purchase for MANY too...not sure if this has already been discussed or not though TLDR No more reissues of old games (most) Yes to Capcom Ricki and Vicki??? Homebrew Arcade ports that we can no longer purchase anywhere (already programmed/ discontinued or new efforts)
  12. I don't think you would have trouble selling it or anything, I just don't think you would get that much... I can quote my "guess" at a price if you want but not sure you're gonna like or agree with it The proof is key at this point. I mean, I think it's pretty clear it's NOT a homemade item but it isn't necessary made by Atari either. Could be a large video game store, etc... who knows (although my money is on trade show) It's not Nintendo so you don't have a line a mile long of people that will take out a second mortgage to buy anything rare lol. I'm not trashing Atari collecting or anything but if this was a proven first party Nintendo sign (mario, Donkey Kong, etc) then yeah, the price would be REALLY high...Atari has it's expensive stuff but things like this aren't it. Some people collect stuff like this, many don't... The condition...all that tape has got to be on there for a reason? Maybe not but I'm assuming it's got some major damage to it. I don't want to make it sound like I'm knocking your item, it's super cool and I think if put up for sale (with some kind of authentication) you would definitely have interested buyers...I just don't think it's getting "Nintendo money" if you know what I'm saying Now if you found some bad ass picture of it hanging in Nolan Bushnells office or something....
  13. I really don't think it's fan made... as far as figuring out it's original use, that could be pretty tough... Without some kind of back story/authentication it would be tough to ever rule out completely its "fan made" to the average collector. "I think" or "I'm pretty sure" usually doesn't cut it enough to open the wallet up lol Again, I really don't think it is but odds are it was some "one off" marketing thing that whoever had it made originally is long gone from the industry. For instance. my Wife worked for an AD agency, I found an old pair of computer speakers she helped design some trendy nonsense for 20+ years ago and she doesn't even remember them, I had to remind her and she still gave me a confused look haha I'm really curious what it was too for some reason. If I were you I would continue to examine pictures of old trade shows and hope you find something similar to it, or maybe even a legit pic of it... I guess it more depends on how bad YOU want to know though, even confirmed legit I don't think it would be super valuable...
  14. Oh this was totally meant to be backlit! The large amount of tape on the top/etc is probably hindering it a bit though. Like I mentioned though, someone probably literally took this from the trash/etc so it could have been damaged when they disposed of it. NIce! Did I scan those for you or was it someone else? (I don't remember doing it if I did lol) I can confirm it was a wooden block inside as I opened it up and looked. The scans make it look a lot nicer, in person it had a real "homemade" quality to it...
