Interest Check: Reproduction Controller Overlays

Wed May 16, 2012 4:18 PM

I have found a way to make reproduction/replacement overlays for the ColecoVision that I feel will translate to the Intellivision as well. In the picture below I have three repro overlays:

Sharp Shot
Armor Battle
Lock'N'Chase

Attached File  INTVoverlays.jpg   183.67K   32 downloads

The Horse Racing is an original Intellivision overlay that I used for reference. Over in the ColecoVision section of AA I posted that my method was tested to 120 cycles (a cycles is, putting the overlay in controller, push all the buttons and then taking it back out) and the overlay still looked great. Here's that topic for reference:

Does anyone make reproduction overlays?

I'm considering offering for sale Intellivison overlays as well if there is enough interest.

For those interested in how these are made. First I clean up each image (in some cases, I redraw them). Next, each one of the overlays are printed on photo quality paper. The overlay is then laminated front to back with one piece of continuous lamination. This means the leading edge of the overlay is not cut, protecting the lamination from catching on the controller when being inserted. This will keep the overlay from de-laminating.

Let me know what you guys think.

Spinner control hook-up?

Fri Apr 13, 2012 2:32 PM

I'm looking for a schematic of the Super Action controller spinner. What the spinner is physically and more specifically, how the spinner is connected to the 9 pin controller plug. I've tried searching, but I'm not having any luck. So far the only thing I've found is there might be magnets used in it, but I'm not sure how correct that is. I'm starting to think it is a guarded secret. :P

Maybe I missed something in the search, so if anyone can point me in the direction of how the spinner works and how its connected, it would be much appreciated.

ColecoVision Trading Cards CV-02

Mon Apr 2, 2012 8:11 AM

The ColecoVision Trading Card Series CV-02 is coming!

For those that don't know. This is the second series of ColecoVision cards. Here's the link to the first set (Keep in mind I'm no longer making the first set):
ColecoVision Trading Cards with Binder!
I felt it was time to start a new topic since I finalized the game card list and started on the card art work. There will be 25 game cards, a starter card, and a checklist card. This makes the total number of cards 27 for the complete set (which is the perfect number of cards for those who put them in binder sheets. Each binder sheet holds nine cards). Here's a sneak peak at the game card selections.

And just a reminder the CV-02 cards will come in a 1980's style/inspired packaging. Each CV-02 card set will come with three card packs that look like this:Attached File  cv02a.jpg   99.39K   108 downloads Attached File  cv02b.jpg   92.94K   45 downloads

Each one of the packs will have a slightly different wrapper. Here are the three wrapper types:

As you can see from the picture above, the initial sets of wrappers are done and awaiting the trading cards. :-D I have not finalized the six stickers that will be included in the set (Two stickers for each pack).

Like last time, I will have an option for those that wish to purchase a binder to put their collection in. It will be the same binder as last time.

The initial run right now is (20) twenty sets. If demand is high I will do (20) twenty more. Once the first sets are ready to go, I will post the pricing and open up the ordering process. Stay tuned.

ADAM Game Disk Labels & Disk Sleeves (Interest Check)

Tue Mar 27, 2012 12:00 PM

I'm trying to gauge the interest in 5-1/4" game disk labels and reproduction disk sleeves for the ADAM computer. It took me some time to find a suitable label stock that would stay on the disk. For some odd reason the label stock that I use for cartridges did not stay on the textured surface of a 5-1/4" diskettes. I'm also trying to gauge which ADAM disk sleeve that you guys would prefer. I'm looking at $1.50 per label and $1.50 per disk sleeve (plus shipping). Here are the current label titles I have:

Attached File  ADAMdiskLabels.jpg   215.42K   101 downloads

Here are the two disk sleeves. The first sleeve is done in the style of ADAM and is not a reproduction. The second sleeve is a stylized reproduction (I say stylized because it is not a 100% image perfect reproduction, but its pretty close). These new disk sleeves are made of 110 lb card stock. This is the thickest card stock I can push thru my printer.

This is what your diskettes would look like with these labels and sleeves. (REMEMBER I'M NOT SELLING THE DISKETTES THEMSELVES. Just the labels and sleeves.)

Let me know what you guys think and if there is enough interest, I will open this up for purchase.
