Storage Tips - Duplicate Cartridges

Duplicate Carts Stacked Up

Duplicate Carts

Once you've been collecting for awhile you'll amass plenty of duplicate carts.  Unfortunately they begin to pile up and make a mess of everything.   When we first started collecting, we kept these carts with the rest of the collection.   However, at some point we had more duplicate carts than carts in our collection, so we had to weed the duplicates out.

We could just throw duplicate carts in cardboard boxes, but these UnderBed 28 Quart plastic containers from Sterilite can be had from Wal-Mart for only $2.99 each.  Each container will hold just under 100 Atari 2600 cartridges.   They stack well, but the tops are not very stiff and will deform a bit if you try to stack them too high.  Stacking them four high as shown in the top picture seems to work well, and doesn't make it too much of a pain to get at the items in the bottom.

These are the units we were using to store the loose-cartridges in our collection until we graduated to the Iris shelving units.
