Slide Boy in Maze Land

Maze land is not a nice place to live.

It's too mazey for a young slidey boy.

Tired of a life of peril, slide boy decided to escape from maze land, but he will learn the hard way that those mazes are even more deadly than he had previously thought...

Gameplay

Once you start the game, your objective is to slide through multiple rooms plagued with all sorts of perils, until you reach room 30, where you have to face the ultimate challenge: The evil MAZE KEEPER.

Your challenge sounds simple: just get out of each room before the time runs out and avoid the lethal obstacles. But our protagonist is not called SLIDE BOY without a reason. In fact, he is so slidey that once he starts to slide, he will not stop until he collides with something.

You can only select the direction of SLIDE BOY when he is not moving, and once he starts to slide you cannot change direction.

In some rooms, avoiding the obstacles is enough to reach the exit to the next room, but in others, SLIDE BOY will have to activate switches to open the exit door. To activate switches, SLIDE BOY has to collide with them.

If SLIDE BOY collides with an enemy, spike or any other hazard, he will lose a life.

Lives

In NORMAL and EASY modes, you start with THREE LIVES. You get an extra life every 200 points in EASY mode and every 400 points in NORMAL mode. There are no extra lives in SURVIVOR mode.

You can have a maximum of FIVE LIVES in EASY and NORMAL modes, but you will have only one life in SURVIVOR mode.

Time

If your time runs out, you will lose a life.

  • In NORMAL mode, you start every room with 30 seconds on your timer.
  • In EASY mode, you start every room with 40 seconds on your timer.
  • In SURVIVOR mode, you start the game with 99 seconds, and the timer doesn't reset at the start of every room.

A nice, clean puzzle game. Exactly the game you can relax with for a while. Recommended. The action is very smooth. The puzzles are not "impossible" to solve. I play it on the PAL 7800 with no issues. So it appears to adapt itself to different TV standards automatically. There is sound effects but no background music. Which is a good choice for a game like this.
