On this page we will list ongoing changes to the site that aren't newsworthy enough for AtariAge's home page (the one you're viewing now!) Classic Gaming Expo 2K1

CGE2K1The Classic Gaming Expo web site has issued a new press release for the largest classic gaming convention around, CGE2K1. The first guest to sign on to the convention is Ralph Baer, the "Father of Videogames". Other guests include Rob Fulop (Missile Command), David Crane (Pitfall!), and Howard Scott Warshaw (Yars' Revenge). You can read more about it in the official press release.

VCSp Advance

VCSp Revision 5Ben Heckendorn has completed revision 5 of his portable Atari 2600, the VCSp. As you can see from the picture, this one is a drastic design change reminiscent of the Game Boy Advance. The main problem with this design is that it took much longer to construct, so don't expect this to be the final version. He's looking for input, so stop by the VSCp Site and let him know what you think of the new design.

2600 & 7800 : More Prototypes?

Elevator ActionIt seems that the Digital Press guys have turned up some more Atari prototypes. Word has it that they showed off Elevator Action for the 2600 and Pitfighter for the 7800 at the recent PhillyClassic event. There's even word of a 2600 Zookeeper prototype, but that's just a rumor at this point. That's all we know for now, we'll post more news as it becomes available!

Easter Egg Contest

The Digital Press is conducting an Easter Egg contest to uncover rumored secrets found in various Atari 2600 games. Prizes range from $25 to $100 and include games such as E.T. and Raiders of the Lost Ark. There are also prizes for any other unknown secrets that you can reveal.

VCSp Revision 4

Ben Heckendorn has completed the 4th revision of his portable Atari 2600, the VCSp. The new version has blue plastic with more woodgrain, and most importantly features a paddle controller. It also features a new screen with better resolution - and it costs less to make! Check out his site and give him some feedback on the new design.

The first images of PhillyClassic, the East coast classic gamers convention, have been put on-line. It looks like the show was a success, with lots of free arcade play, games to buy and trade, and more. You can check out over 40 pictures from the show at Classic Game Creations.
