 Junies Creations has announced that they have opened an online store to sell Atari 2600 and 7800 merchandise. If you're looking for an alternative to the stock Atari controllers, Junies has modified NES, Genesis and Playstation controllers to work on the 2600 and 7800. Frequent AtariAge visitor StanJr has reviewed one of Junie's custom controllers over on AtariInvader.  Bill Kendrick has ported his Kaboom clone, Mad Bomber, to the Zuarus PDA. Here's what Bill had to say:
"I've ported Mad Bomber, my clone of the classic Activision game "Kaboom!", to the new Sharp Zaurus SL-5500 Linux-based PDA! Mad Bomber was originally released for Linux, and is also available for Windows and BeOS. It was written using SDL, so it should also run on MacOS, MacOSX, Amiga, Atari ST, and other Unixes! It's released as Open Source, under the GNU General Public License. Enjoy!"

 Yoshi DeHerrera of TechTV's The Screen Savers has put together a hybrid PC and game console system with the following systems installed: Atari 2600, Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), Microsoft Xbox, Nintendo GameCube, Sony Playstation 2, and a custom PC. The systems are all crammed into an aluminum Lian-Li PC-76 case, with all the necessary ports, cartridge connectors and optical drives exposed for easy access.  Lee Krueger of ResQsoft Productions has informed us that he now has X3V0LuX and NWCGE Invaders for the Atari 2600 back in stock. These games were released at last month's NWCGE Expo 2K2, along with NTSC versions of Klax and Sentinel (both of which are presently out of stock). These games are complete with a unique label, box, and in the case of X3V0LuX, instructions. Ordering information as well as the story of X3V0LuX can be found here. If you're interested in ordering copies of these games don't dawdle, as Lee says there are less than 20 copies of each left!

 Ron Lloyd, aka Caféman, has updated his Koffi: Yellow Kopter development page with the latest news as well as a new demo you can download and try. Your goal as Koffi, a little "Kopter", is to save the forests from an evil stormcloud named Pyro. The current demo represents a roughly 55% complete version of the game.  Cassidy Nolen has announced that he will be selling boxed Atari 2600 Polo carts at next week's PhillyClassic 3 expo. Polo was written for Atari by Carol Shaw, who is best known for creating Activision's popular River Raid. However, Polo was never released by Atari.  Atari2600.com has announced a Bugs Bunny Easter Egg promotion to take place at the upcoming PhillyClassic 3 expo. The Atari 2600 Bugs Bunny game scheduled for release on Saturday 27th at 12:30pm contains a hidden message from game programmer Bob Polaro himself, Bob and Graphic Artist Alan Murphy's initials. Be the first to successfully find the initials, crack the Bugs Bunny Easter Egg, and win two weekend passes to Classic Gaming Expo 2K2 including two nights at the Plaza Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas compliments of Atari2600.com.  Details about the Sixth Annual Atari Jaguar Festival (JagFest 2k2) have been revealed. JagFest 2k2 will be held in downtown St. Louis, Missouri at the Mayfair Wyndham Historic Hotel. In a first for this event, it will be held over two days instead of one, spanning Friday, July 12th and Saturday, July 13th, 2002. Admission is $25 if paid in advance or $30 at the door.  Shrapnel Games is set to publish Space HoRSE, a strategy game from Gilligames inspired by the classic game M.U.L.E.. For those unfamiliar with it, M.U.L.E. is considered one of the best computer games ever, and the Atari 800 version is considered by many to be the best port. Get the ATR file for yourself and find out why. A demo of Space HoRSE should be available soon.

 Ronen Habot has selected Zanza's entry as the winner for the Castle Blast Label Contest. Congratulations to Zanza and thanks to everyone who entered, you can see all of the label submissions here. For his efforts, Zanza will receive a limited Special Edition version of Castle Blast. This Special Edition will be differentiated from the normal version as follows:

 Infogrames has announced Atari Revival, a new multi-game title that features updated versions of Missile Command, Warlords, and Combat, as well as emulated versions of the original games. Unfortunately, Combat and Missile Command appear to be re-releases, or at least very similar to previous releases by Infogrames and Hasbro. Here is what Infogrames had to say about it:
"To celebrate the 30th year of Atari®, three of the biggest arcade hits of the ’80s have been revived, renewed and recreated with colorful 3-D graphics and clever game twists. Each game remains true to the original but now feature even more levels, detailed graphics and power-ups. Are you ready to go for the high score?"

 Test Drive, developed by Pitbull Syndicate, is the latest game to be announced under the Atari brand name from Infogrames. It is now listed under the product section of the official Atari web site, and you can also see more about the game at the official Test Drive web site. Test Drive is being developed for Playstation 2 and XBox, with a June 28 release date for PS2. Although they aren't listed on the Atari.com site yet, we've also seen ads for Terminator: Dawn of Fate by Paradigm Entertainment and Stuntman by Reflections Interactive sporting the Atari logo.

 Fans of the popular Sega arcade game Space Harrier and Atari 8-bit computers will be delighted to learn that Chris Hutt (aka Sheddy) is working on porting Space Harrier to the Atari 130XE. Because of the amount of memory required for the conversion it's only targeted for the 130XE, but we think you'll agree that this is an ambitious project and the demo Chris has put together exhibits great promise.  The April edition of MyAtari.net is now available. This issue features articles on How to Build your own Retro game (a mail order kit from Velleman), MIDIGEN, the Tip of the day, and Setting up a MIDI system.  Curt Vendel of the Atari Historical Society has sent us some information and pictures of his Atari Museum exhibit at the upcoming PhillyClassic 3 show at the end of April. The Atari Museum booth will include an Atari trade show exhibit, reproductions of in-store Colecovision, Astrocade, and Odyssey 2 kiosks built from scratch, numerous large classic-gaming posters, and more. In addition, two never released Atari video game systems from 1980 will be unveiled to the public. More information and pictures can be found here.  Hot on the heels of his Javascript Combat, Neil Pearce has written a Javascript/DHTML version of Kaboom. Here's what he had to say:
"Had some good feedback from the JavaScript Combat nonsense, so have decided to convert my favorite Atari 2600 game Kaboom! Here's the result. If you score 15,000 or more then you will be awarded a special patch, just like the original. This also entitles you to honorary membership of the Kaboom! Bucket Brigade. Oh yeh, check the sneaky smile the mad bomber gives when you miss :)."
