Virtual Jaguar CVS BuildsIf you can't get enough Jaguar emulation, the author of the Virtual Jaguar emulator has announced that Windows binaries based on the latest CVS source will be made available on a semi-regular basis. While these versions won't always be as polished as the official releases, it's still fun being able to run newer builds from time to time. Malagai LegendsIt has been twenty years since Malagai was released for the Atari 2600 system. To celebrate, a few individuals have put together a PC remake of the game with several enhanced features and more replay value entitled "Malagai Legends." The authors have attempted to be as faithful as possible while still adding extra gameplay features. Download and play for free at Symmetry is Comfort.

Jaguar CD emulation looks to be making good strides, with both Baldies and World Tour Racing showing progress. Atari++ Version 1.32 Released

Atari++ Version 1.32 ReleasedVersion 1.32 of the Atari++ emulator is now available. Atari++ is an Atari 8-bit/5200 emulator that supports several operating systems, including Unix, Linux, Solaris, and Windows. Unix versions are source-only and must be compiled, but the Windows version is available pre-compiled with the SDL libraries. This latest version of Atari++ contains several improvements and bug fixes over previous releases. You can download the latest version of Atari++ and learn more about it at the Atari++ Homepage.

Castle Crisis Label ContestCastle Crisis author Bryan Edewaard and AtariAge have selected Manu Pärssinen's label as the winning entry in the Castle Crisis Label Contest! Castle Crisis is a new game for the Atari 5200, based on the the classic Atari arcade game Warlords, and written from the ground up by Bryan Edewaard. Manu will receive an autographed copy of Castle Crisis and a $50 gift certificate in the AtariAge Store. His label will grace copies of the 5200 version of Castle Crisis when it goes on sale in the AtariAge Store. Bryan Edewaard has revealed that everyone who entered the contest will have their name hidden in the game. Congratulations to Manu Pärssinen and thanks to everyone who entered!

MESS Version 0.78 Released

This MESS update doesn't contain any Atari-related changes, but improvements have been made to several other system emulators (as well as the addition of Coleco Adam emulation). Atari Xbox EmulationNew versions of the Atari 2600 emulator Z26, the Atari 8-bit emulator AtariXLBox, and the Atari ST emulator WinSTon have been released for the Xbox. If you have an Xbox and enjoy playing Atari 2600, Atari 8-bit, or Atari ST games, then you'll want to check these emulators out. You can learn more about both of these emulators (and many others) over at XBox Evolution, although the files are not available for download there (you'll likely need to use IRC to find them).

Rainbow 1.5 for OS XA version of the Atari 8-bit/5200 Rainbow emulator has been released for OS X. The OS X version of Rainbow adds an improved GUI and significantly improved sound over the earlier classic MacOS version. Please visit Richard Bannister's OS X Rainbow page to download the latest version. While there, you may want to browse through many of the other emulators he's ported to OS X.

Featuring video clips from your favorite Atari systems, a new AtariVision video will be released once a month. The first installment of AtariVision, over 15 minutes of video, features Jaguar clips, Lynx videos, and some great Atari 8-bit artwork. Alien vs. Predator AlphaAn alpha version of the popular Atari Jaguar title Alien vs. Predator has been made available for downloading on the Jaguar fansite U-235 by LinkoVitch. This version has several differences from the commercial release of the game, mostly demonstrating that the game wasn't quite finished, but one interesting "feature" is that you cannot die. Jaguar Euro-Jag Fest 2001 CD

This is the one of the first Jaguar CDs created using the original Atari CD Encryption tools recently released by Curt Vendel of the Atari History Museum, meaning it can be played in a Jaguar without the need for a CD Bypass. The CD features full footage of Euro Jag Fest 2001 (30 minutes of video), as well as an exclusive two minute trailer of the upcoming Atari Jaguar adventure game Eerievale. The Player's Choice Award is your chance to vote for anything Atari-related making its debut over the past year that you feel deserves recognition. SainT Version 1.60 Released

Download SainTThanks to Mindfield for informing us that version 1.60 of the Windows Atari ST emulator SainT has been released, just in time for Christmas. There are lots of great changes in this version, including the ability to record movies complete with audio. There are also fixes to improve compatibility with demos, and SainT is now the first emulator to run the 3D full-screen interrupt demo by Ziggy Stardust. You can download the latest version of SainT and read the documentation here.
