In a distant future, Odynexus set out on a journey to the stars. His travels led him to the vicinity of the planet Troya, where mechanical, godlike creatures were capturing all the starships navigating around it. Odynexus defeated them one by one, until he was able to destroy PRIAM, the sentient AI who controlled them.

Poseidon, the eternal god of the cosmic ocean, was angry, as PRIAM was his creation. But he was also a vengeful god, and he vowed to punish Odynexus for his actions.

Now on his way back to Ithaca, his home, Odynexus explores new worlds, makes new friends, and learns about the universe. But before he can meet his wife Penelope again, he still has to face the most terrible dangers: sentient machines, the electronic demigods that Poseidon is sending his way.

Gameplay

You are Odynexus, the legendary cosmo warrior who defeated the Olympian Gods and conquered Troy, their capital city. Now, after all these years, the time has finally come to fly back to Ithaca, your home, and to Penelope, your queen.

Odynexus is a brand new shoot'em up for the Atari Lynx, featuring fantastic pixelart, huge bosses, swarms of terrific enemies, and frenetic arcade action! Traverse seven treacherous worlds that will take you above the clouds, below the sea, and through the flames. 

Simply press A to start the game. If you have previously finished the game, you will see an option to choose between normal or hard difficulty. Just before the first level starts, you will be shown the scoring information screen, which explains the different score values.

During the game, you must collect power-ups to automatically upgrade your weapons. There are five different weapons in total. Note that when you get killed, you lose one upgrade in normal mode and all of them in difficult mode. You can also find bonus items that will further aide in your journey.
